I am rating 5 stars based upon my most recent experience on Tuesday, 5.28.24. I dealt with Eric and found he was most helpful.
Background: I had purchased an open box Pixel 6a from eBay about 2 months ago. 2 weeks ago I noticed it sounded odd; the sound was very quiet and sounded tiny. On YouTube videos and podcasts it was not terribly noticeable -- but listening to the ringtones made it clear. 8 had no idea what could be wrong The phone had not been dropped or prodded; it had always been in a case -- whether UAG, Spigen, or Poetic, yet the speaker seemed damaged. Turns out the phone was now out of warranty for 6 weeks. Bummer. I checked with the Google Store to get a repair / replace estimate and was quoted $115. Fine. Sent my phone off, only to hear back that Google claims they found additional connectivity issues (which I have never encountered in my use) and the repair cost from the Google Store for their own Pixel 6a was now $350. Yes $350. For a refurbished phone. Amazon presently sells brand new devices for $300! I refused the charge and they sent my phone back. I reached out to Google to see if they could cut me a deal, but they wouldn't budge on the $350 price. They did send me a 20% coupon for a new phone that I could use on a Pixel 8a, which I considered doing next month.
However, I had one more shot -- check uBreakiFix to see their prices. I was skeptical, but what did I have to lose? Nothing, really. So I explained the situation to Eric and dropped off the phone. Then, a mere 2 hours later, Eric called me to tell me that they fixed my phone! The speaker was just severely packed full of gunk that was severely muffling the sound. He gave it a deep cleaning, and that fixed it. He also mentioned that there was NO CHARGE! 😀
Google said the phone would cost a crazy amount to repair/replace. But it only took uBreakiFix a few hours to fix something as simple as cleaning the bee speaker grill. I am very grateful to Eric and uBreakiFix. We have been there before for issues and will return again....
Read moreWhen I walked in to g et my laptop repaired I was told it would take two weeks (possibly less) if I purchased their Asurion Home+ plan and a month or more without it. I purchased the plan, 2 weeks passed with no word from the store. 2 and a half weeks in I called, was told they could give me no information other than it was 'at the repair facility'. Called back the next day, same answer but they would leave a note for another employee to check on it - never got a call back. After more than 3 weeks I finally got a call, telling me that it was done and would cost me $200 to replace a battery, I asked if there was any way due to the extended time it took and lack of communication if I could get a discount. Was told I would get a call back after they spoke to their manager. Never got a call back. I get a text the following day saying my laptop is ready to be picked up.
I go in to pick it up, they tell me the total (no discount applied) to which I bring it up again the crap experience I have had. Employee gave me $10 off and said it's all they could do. This store does not meet promised repair times and their communication on where expensive products are at in the repair process is severely lacking and they don't have an interest in rectifying their mistakes monetarily when their employees mess up.
I would suggest finding another repair shop if you don't want lies stacked on lies to try and get your business or if you want to be able to get information on where your items are within the process when it takes over the promised amount of time.
Only good things I can say about this store is that the place was clean and the employees are good at selling the BS...
Read moreHad a battery replaced for an aging phone due to it having poor charge retention. Got a quote over the phone and scheduled the appointment for the next day which was quite easy.
The device is in good condition after being repaired and appears to have better charge retention performance, though time will tell if that remains. They did a thorough questionnaire to ask about other possible issues when checking in and I mentioned the microphone didn't work too great. I don't know if it was just part of the process of disassembly and reassembly, but after getting the phone back I've been told by several people that I sound much better on the phone than I ever have in the past so I got an inadvertent fix for that as well which was quite nice.
Customer service was good, pricing was very reasonable, less than $100 to replace my battery including tax, though of course your mileage may vary depending on device type, it appears they actually cleaned the phone quite well during the process as well and overall the performance increased. I'm quite happy from this point. Definitely made a big difference to simply buy a new battery vs having to spend $1000-2000 on a new phone.
Shops like these are why the Right to Repair is so important. I was able to get this done painlessly in my spare time without much worry and at a low cost compared to being told be a "genius" that I need a whole new phone or unnecessary repairs.
10/10 would recommend this shop for your electronics repairs if you want to try to extend the life of a device or need repairs...
