Oak Canyon Dog Park is the best dog park within 50 miles, easily. I want to be clear, this is a dog park for responsible owners. I spent months traveling all over the place checking out every single dog park. Visiting multiple times to be sure. After taking my dog to every dog park within a 50 mile radius, plus a ton in other cities, I've made a final decision. I've decided to drive 35 minutes, one way, every time we go to the dog park! It's worth it because of the people. The dogs everywhere are great. It's never the dogs fault. When you get lazy, uninformed, or undisciplined owners in any dog park, you end up with dogs that don't behave well. I'd do anything for my Tuna Girl. If that means driving over an hour round trip at least three times a week, I'm 100% okay with that. We have actually, over time, met a group of really nice people. Our dog chose her friends. And out of those dogs we have for sure chosen our favorite people. We meet up regularly with the same people and the same dogs which drastically reduces the likelihood of a fight, or an incident. Stuff happens. Dogs will be dogs.. But I've been to parks where the owners barely even break it up. At this park people charge in if there's an issue. And if a dog is getting rowdy, that owner usually takes their dog home right then and there. Dog parks can be a safe place if you do it right. This is an excellent place to start. I'd recommend coming at the same time every day. Also try to provide your dog with familiar faces/smells every visit. Best of luck! And remember, there are...

Besides that, the dog park is split into large and small dogs. Sadly, when we went on a weekday there were almost no other dogs here. The only other dog there was a larger dog but the other asked if she could play with ours. They just sniffed each other and ended up not playing haha...
The park has benches, lots of trash cans for poop. And a shaded watering center for the pups. Very clean overall.
It seems to have constant up-keep as well, as we noticed a worker tightening up fences while we arrived. That's why everything was in...
Read moreThe dog park is part of the much larger Oak Canyon Park. Drive to the far end of the park and park in the parking lot. There are only two disabled parking spots next to the park. All others must walk uphill about a quarter mile to access the dog park. The park itself is fully fenced, consisting of a large dog area and a smaller small dog area. There is little, if any shade, but water is available...
