This is a great library! In addition to the Main library, there are two satellite branches, Maze and Dole, serving the community of Oak Park. The staff members at Main are very helpful. The library has a large selection of books, I see mostly current and popular fiction titles on the shelves. Classic titles are harder to find and I either order from another library or order an ebook. I have made requests for books in the past thru the interlibrary systems, titles that the library does not have and I need for writing projects. The staff has been able to find most of the titles that I have requested and I appreciate their help. Our family has enjoyed making use of the Creative Studio, particularly the 3D printer, to create items for the kids to paint and play with. I have included some examples of those items in my photos. Overall, a very good library system!

Amazing library with a wide selection of books, modern facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a great place to read, study, or just relax. Free parking is also available under the building but for the first 2 hours.

Its a very beautiful Library very friendly librarians. I enjoy every time we go and to check out books, movies, music its fun every time we are there, they are very friendly people we enjoy every minute. I think all of the library's are very helpful in every way possible. The librarians assist you in all that you might need its very helpful to have the library to exist because it help alot my son to learn how to read and with another Library at the time their was a reading contest at my Library at the time with all of the books he read with me he won a bicycle for reading 182 books he did real good and that is how we got to know if this beautiful library and your library it was Awesome for my son and myself and new for my daughter too she loves to read. We have a very nice experience for this lovely library at Oak Park. And for the other library's as well its very nice to go and convince to stay your time there at the library where you at anytime you may meed it very helpful. The trip to go to the Library its worth the wait. Its like home sweet home. May our God bless this library and all of the other Library's always and forever.🙏💞beautiful memories we have when we go to the library. Thank you for your assistant at all...

Place looks good but there is more to it than that.

On Sunday 8/4/19. I was in the quiet room. Had A Eveready battery charger plugging in on the side wall. I was there at the end of day 6pm. walked out forgot charger. Came 9am the next day, charger was gone from plug. Some teacher group for kids had taken the room prior to open of library, and had plugged something into location where I had charger. I ask them did they see anything they said if it ain't here it ain't here.

Went directly to third floor desk, nothing there. Went to lost and found , lady there said she was there last night at closing and described charger to me and said it should be in lost and found location. however after a long wait {15 min. or more), another guy came out in a red security shirt and said they cant find it in lost and found and it may be in a security safe an the don't have the key, he took my ph# and said he would get back with me, which was a week ago and I have not heard a thing since.

Long story short my charger was stolen by one of the library reps or one of the teacher reps. Either way I was robbed.

Also, the place is always crowed by people who don;t live in the area, the thire floor is terrible, it needs provisions for people...

I'm giving it 1 star mainly because I don't believe it has any business being rated 4.5 stars. I live in Oak Park but visit as many libraries as I can -- as a workspace, to peruse the aisles, and to admire as a reflection of their community. I love libraries. Love them. In terms of quality, Oak Park is heavily on poor end of libraries I've been to. I've been to worse of course, but for a community as vibrant, culturally conscious, and wealthy as Oak Park, the library is a bit of an embarrassment. It's filthy, the material selection is poor (at least the non-fiction sections I care about (although you can order from the network of other libraries)), there are few workspaces and they're arranged inconveniently with limited access to outlets to plug your laptop, it's old -- not in an endearing, classic way, but in a run-down looking way. Today, so many people work from home and are able to supplement their learning and professional growth online, libraries have the chance to truly be the center of a community, and to help people learn and grow in a way they never did before. The leadership of OPPL needs to get its act together,...
