I really love this spot for views of Half Dome at sunset and dusk. There’s a parking lot big enough that it never feels overrun like nearby spots do and because nearby spots are so busy and thought to be so much better, Washburn feels like a welcome relief from crowds. Definitely arrive early enough to scout your spot or couple of spots. Several waterfalls give the view from this vista an otherworld, almost fairy tale-like feel and it gives you a lot of composition options. Don’t discount Washburn just because the crowds do. One caveat, it’s not the best spot for photographing the Milky Way at night over Labor Day weekend, which doesn’t line up with Half Dome and from this spot doesn’t give you a very interesting foreground for Milky Way sky photos. But like I said, it’s great for Golden Hour, sunset and dusk on Labor Day weekend especially if arrive before the line of the setting sun covers the Half Dome side of the valley wall.

Just for your info: There is no ticket counter and also you need no tickets. The view was amazing, you could probably see more than 10 miles far and you get see all of the green landscape. I think this is one of the best spots for a picnic, because of the amazing view and the access to trash bins. There is not much more to say, that if you also are there to visit the Glacier point, I recommend making a stop there and...

This is the best place in the entire Yosimati where you don't need to walk much or go on a hike. I highly recommend this place for the kind of people who love to experience mountain top but don't like to walk 😂. Washburn point is well known amongst the star gazing community as you can experience a breathtaking view of galaxy and falling stars. Do plan your visit if you want to explore this points...
