This is a hidden gem in Oakland and we decided to stop by recently to enjoy this African American library. There is a parking garage and street parking nearby. It's very easy to navigate to with the use of a GPS device or Google maps. California and the city of Oakland are enforcing the COVID-19 pandemic precautions and require visitors to wear face masks. It is such a beautiful building, located directly opposite my son’s new apt building near 12th & Jefferson in downtown Oakland. The history & the handmade quilts were fascinating. The presentation, atmosphere and discussions were all amazing and the evening left me feeling encouraged and uplifted. I was born and raised in Oakland, so I am incredibly grateful for this very precious community resource. I became a member that evening and I hope to volunteer in the near future. ...
