23 Must-Do Activities in the Bay Area's Oakland 🏝️ Ultimate Travel Guide ✔️

This plaza is a gathering spot for many people in the Oakland Chinatown community. There are a few restaurants, an Asian American public library, Bank of America, pharmacy, retail businesses, etc. The Asian American Cultural Center is on the second floor. The courtyard is where I usually meet my sisters for lunch or we're there to enjoy cultural events. The upper levels have townhomes. Definitely it is a nice place to visit and have lunch or dinner with family and friends. Have a taste for tea and dim sum in the late morning/early afternoon, then stop in at the Peony Restaurant on the second floor. Other restaurants worth checking out are Gum Kuo, C&M, a ramen noodle house.

The PRP is the center of Oakland’s Chinatown and it houses the Oakland Chinatown library, The Oakland Asian Cultural Center, The Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, a number of restaurants and cafes, residential apartments and a variety of other establishments. It’s a large building taking up an entire city block. There’s also a public underground parking if you are unable to find street parking. Oakland’s Chinatown is one of the oldest in the nation (since about 1850). Unlike many others, Oaklands Chinatown still functions as an immigrant hub and less of a tourist destination.

I've been going here at least 3 times each month. 1st: because I needed this community to understand this Chinese area was built for all people! Not just for them.

*I fault the City of Oakland leaders for creating this division by creating Cross Walks in that area like they did. ( You have never ever seen that mess anywhere else in Oakland). *Next buildings where only Chinese people live. *Police Officers sitting on each of the corners in their potrol cars all day long ( you never 👀 see it anywhere else in Oakland). And this routine has been in effect way before the Covid 19 Pandemic, and this Aisan Hate . *I also fault many of the Chinese people and there Leaders for falling into the trap thinking that they are more superior than others people, Willingly ( OF ONES ON FREE WILL) wanting to separate themselves from other cultures. *You might think how would she know? I'm 64 years old just ask some other older people. 2nd: Since I'm a black women you are really no different from me. We all have a ❤ Heart that beats, Blood that flows through our body, and certainly will Die and not live forever! 3rd: I will always go to Chinatown, shop there, treat you with respect and Never feel out if place because I choose not to give any cultures power over me. So let's enjoy that great waterfall, and please please use that Library so Chinatown knows Oooo no this...

I've been going here for years to park my car. The other day was the first time I had a major problem with them. I was only parked for 3 hours like every Friday. I usually only pay $6 to $7 dollars. That weekend I'm checking my charges on my card and they charged me $97 dollars. When I called they said I couldn't use the transaction number for the charge. I need a paper receipt I don't have. When I told her several times ( that she talked over me and ignored me) that I don't have the receipt, she said no receipt, cant help you. She said maybe my car was parked overnight for a few days so that's why i'm being charged. Not sure how I got home if my car was in the parking lot.!!?? they refuse to work with me to solve this issue. She was rude and didn't want to help. I have a feeling it was something to do with that their card system was down on the Tuesday I went in so they had to charge my card manually and probably didn't close the open transaction from when i went in on Tuesday so when I put my card in to go in the parking garage on Friday it charged my overnight. for 2 days. That was their fault and they should have been able to figure it out since they know their credit card system wasn't working and there was likely to be possible mistakes like that. They should have been able to fix it. I can no longer trust them and...

I live in the East Bay and there are times when I visit an acquaintance who recently moved into senior housing on the outskirts of Oakland Chinatown. I'll take her to lunch at C&M Bistro and walk her home. We'll proceed to do takeouts from C&M and Golden Peony. We'll have ice cream or mango pudding from Sweet Booth, also located inside the plaza. I've patronized them since I moved to the East Bay 30 years ago. We'll eat it outside on the plaza's benches across the fountain on a nice afternoon. Since the pandemic many stores are closed on Sunday. Sunday is a better day for me and I miss the hustle and bustle of folks running in and out of the stores. My trip this Sunday was quiet. It was 3pm. The streets were noticeably empty. Only a few grocery stores were open in the surrounding area and they were getting ready to close by...
