Staff is lazy and unpersonable. They offer very little help and outside the box thinking. Not very pleasant to speak to either. Often rude and condescending. Not just a one time incident either. Multiple issues with staff recently. Ive Been skating here for 20 years and it seems that everyone they hired after covid is there to do the least amount of work they can until they clock out. Sad to see such a nice rink ruined by lack of professionalism in the staff. Outside of the hockey director Chi, there is little hope for the future of the rink.
I called in ahead of time to let them know I was going to be 20 minutes late to a pick up game that had already been paid for on my account. The staff member at the front told me that if I was late I would lose my spot and not be issued a refund and there was nothing he could do. Mind you, I was only calling as courtesy, and also keep in mind that I spend close to $200 per month to play there weekly and all I got from this person was SOL. It wasn't the issue with protocol either it was the issue that this guy made it more of a threat to me which is very concerning when you think they are hired to help the customers.
Other issues include mask mandates. Rather than politely reminding people to pull up their mask or reminding players to keep them on during game play , I have witnessed multiple times staff members yelling aggressively at customers demanding they put their masks up or leave. This is a public rink and its the community and customers that keep the rink open. I just don't understand where the disconnect is with how to treat customers. Either hire professionals or train the current ones to be better.
If barely keeping this rink alive is the goal then I guess they're...
Read moreI've got to give the team at Oakland Ice Center a real compliment. You guys are beasts. I don't think you understand how savage you guys and girls really are. Tamed a crowd of impatient patrons, that almost went out of control, while assisting my child's grand mother with the online process. And this wasn't over the phone or anything. It was in person. Real and raw.
One of your potential customers popped off and your associate, without missing a beat and with only with a stare, sent this irate guest into a deep moment of tranquility and reflection. If looks could kill eh?
I visited your location. I was thoroughly satisfied. I easily recall the days where I would spend 20-30 mintues putting on and taking off ice skates that just don't fit (location unnamed... Berkeley). I don't know if it's the technology that got better or the sizes of shoes became more accurate but this guy had my skates on the counter before I even gave him my size. The only place this happens is the Starbucks by my job. I don't know why more Starbucks doesn't sell skates, but I digress.
My offsprings seemed to enjoy going around the "egg shaped ice palace" as he calls it. He wanted to live there so I told him I would make an inquiry on your rental application status. Don't worry. I lied. He bought it.
My only complaint is the temperature, building was generally kind of cold. I didn't bring a jacket but your gracious staff found me one of your rental jackets, that kept me cozier than a... I actually don't have any analogies for that. A bear maybe? But serious, warm blankets, tea,...
Read more11/17/2018 took my three Children here around 7:15 PM. While my kids were ice skating, I was watching their shoes under the bench in front of the candy machines. Sitting on the same bench, while watching something on my phone, a teenage girl sat down on the other end of the bench and blurted out "I'm looking for my shoes". Another teen girl sat down next to me as I continue to be on my phone. Not one minute later I look down under the bench and one of the shoe is missing already. I immediately got up and look behind the bench, the girl next to me took off and I found the other shoe next to the girl at the other end of the bench. I checked around if they are with other people. I didn't want to ruin the night with my kids so I didn't create a scene. I called the front desk to explain what happened and to give them some description of the thieves. Because those kids are still inside looking for what to steal next. But when my call was transfered to a supervisor, he didn't sound very helpful and he seems like he is just listening on a complain. I just simply want to report what just happened and warn them that those two girls are still inside. I wish they review this incident in their security camera. Happened around 740PM on 11/17, the bench in front of the...
