For a lot of years Lincoln Square has been the most utilized city park/rec center in Oakland. They don't do that by having the most funding, resources or newest equipment, they do that by being in an area that is considered friendly and safe, and have a staff goes the extra mile (Shoutout to Director Gilbert Gong, and staff including Willie Davis).
Lincoln Square serves elementary school students from the Elementary School next door, seniors who do different activities in the morning including tai-chi, and a variety of youth and young adults who play basketball courts or soccer fields, or families that bring their kids to play on the playground.
The people who frequent Lincoln Square are multi-generational and multi-ethnic and everyone is able to co-exist.

Read moreThis was a whole walk. You get a map and you do the walk and see the murals. It's a nice way to look around a neighborhood. There are a lot of murals and it's really fun to spot them. We started the walk in the middle of the map and didnt even do the whole thing - it was still great. You can get the map at the visitors center in Jack London square and then you can take a shuttle (free) and walk around instead of dealing with your car. Read moreI volunteered at an even held at Lincoln swuare park. It was so nice how they had different set ups and games for the community kids. The best part was the guy i completely forgot his name. But he would fix bikes and raffle them off to the kids, that really touched my heart. The dedication they have to the community can't be expressed by words.
