Love this place, except the under-the-highway location. I wouldn't take my dog here-- yuck! But I do visit the playground as it's not completely under the freeway/train. The play structures are wooden, nice to look at but hard to watch toddlers if their popping in & out of the structures. Lots of communal toys left for kiddos to play with here and a couple tables for picnicking.

This is our favorite playground in Berkely or North Oakland. Unlike the cookie cutter plastic playground which seem to be the norm, this is sturdy timber structure with tons of features and miss anything crannies to explore. There is a separate area for smaller tots, as well a great sand box. My son's favorites are the suspension bridge and the wooden steam engine.

I’ve pet sit around the world and impressively this park takes the trophy of the world’s worst dog park. It is truly horrible. Nothing but dirty and concrete. Can’t even throw a ball because as soon you do, it gets covered in dirty making it bad for the dog to keep fetching the ball. I really hope the council puts in some effort and remodels the dog park.

Nice little urban park. Even has a dog park and basketball courts attached! The majority of the park is very well kept.

I do have a complaint with the basketball courts. I've played ball there a few times myself, and the upkeep of the courts is lacking. The main issue is that there are pigeons and pigeon droppings EVERYWHERE.

I investigated this mystery, and it turns out there are two culprits. The first is that the courts lie under the freeway overpass, and pigeons sit on the a small ledge of the overpass directly above the courts. These ledges could certainly use some bird spikes.

The second issue is that I've seen two unrelated individuals feeding the pigeons massive amounts of seed ON THE BASKETBALL COURTS. I can't expect the city to do much about this other than maybe putting up a "Do Not Feed The Birds" sign?

I love playing basketball here, but I'm afraid these courts will be unusable if this issue with the pigeons...

FROG Park is a good weekend destination if your kids need to blow off some steam. It can be crowded, but the play structure is well-designed and large, with lots of twists, turns, nooks and crannies. Plus, it's actually made of wood and metal rather than the all-too-common cookie-cutter primary color plastic play structures that have taken over schoolyards and parks. On summer weekends the city of Oakland daylights the Temescal Creek, which flows alongside the bike path from a pool under the redwoods. The park also features a large, fenced-in dog run. The only knocks against it are that it is often very crowded, and that it sits directly under all eight lanes of Highway 24 and the BART line so there is significant traffic noise to...

This greenbelt is one of the many hidden jewels of The Rockridge. The grounds are nice enough and decently maintained and local visitors respect the place. The dog park is to put it nicely 'industrial'. I guess it might better somewhat better than no dog park but, it just seems like who ever 'designed' this dog park had never been to a dog park or maybe never went outside but most certainly never owned a dog or probably any other animal and carnival goldfish don't count.. Any ways, there us enough grass and stuff for your dog to lift its leg or play some Frisbee or hacky-sack or have a picnic even... Just don't stay too long during rush hour or you may not be doing your lungs a favor (think overhead...
