Oberlin College offers an excellent, and well rounded, liberal arts education within the confines of an active and engaged student community. Despite the claims of those driven by political motivations and a vitriolic hatred for any person that does not hold their same beliefs; Oberlin is a superb institution of higher learning.
While Oberlin is not perfect, and while no college is, this shows their commitment to improvement and creating a community of diverse and inclusive thought. Read moreYou really can't sum up 4 years at a school in a short review so I'll just try to suggest something to consider about Oberlin if it's on your short list: the people who make up the faculty and staff. There may be more famous professors out there but the faculty by and large at Oberlin are fantastic and more importantly, they are here for the students. Since Oberlin isn't a big research university, the professors actually teach the classes and are interested and know the students. This is a wonderful thing.

Everyone is so genuinely nice, the professors are really understanding, and the office of disability and accessibility has been amazing for me as someone with a learning disability. I know there are a lot of negative reviews regarding the political climate here, and even though I do fit in with the general oberlin ideals I have found there are people with contrasting opinions and many people (including myself) still hear them out and maintain a civil conversation with them.
