Just returned from our first trip to Lake Okoboji. We saw two shows at OST during our visit (Purely Patsy Cline and Bright Star) and both were fantastic. Purely Patsy Cline had a cast of six (Patsy and five supporting musicians), only one costume change, and no props, while Bright Star was a full musical with large cast, musicians, costume changes, and props. While a great deal of the cast and support are college students (mainly from Stephens College in Columbia, MO), you would never know it. We've seen productions in Philly, Houston, and on Broadway, and these shows rivaled them. Ticket prices are extremely affordable, and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Read moreI can't say enough good things about the shows we've seen here. The Stephens College students and guest production pros do an amazing job. Ambiance is intimate. The old theater, wooden seats, nice patio, flowers grown by volunteers, wine/beer bar, welcoming ushers, warm your heart. Shows range from slightly quirky to longtime favorite Broadway musicals. Casual or dress-up, it's up to you. Tickets go on sale in the winter. Buy tickets online, as early as you can. Best seats go to season ticket holders, but there are still good seats left right up to showtime. Makes the annual trip to McClelland's Beach, Spirit Lake, and surrounding areas...
Read moreMy grandson and I attended a Boji Bantam Childrens Theater performance of The Emperors New Clothes. It was well done and very entertaining not only for the children but for all in attendance. The venue is easy to enter and seating unassigned bleachers. These Boji Bantam shows are in a separate building from the main theater. Those who want to attend need to be at the Bantam theater right as it opens at 10:00 am as seating is limited.
