I ride a TerraTrike E.V.O. recumbent trike and my sister rides my older TerraTrike Rover. This was our first ride through the park, with sidewalks along the front as well as closer to the water, the view is spectacular. In addition, the covered areas with Pole barn style roofs provide picnic tables with shade. It's been more than a few years, but I hope to return to fish from their recently rebuilt pier.
Towards the center of Olds park there is an "age restricted" playground area to the east of the middle of Olds Park, a rest room to the west of middle. I didn't count spaces but there seemed to be sufficient parking for smallish gatherings throughout both Olds Park and Veterans' Park. Lots of dog-friendly areas but dogs "must be on a leash" and "cleaned up after".
For those interested in such thing, Veterans' Park is to the east, maybe half a mile. Besides sidewalks for walking, there is a gazebo towards the center of the park. I don't remember seeing chairs in the gazebo or restrooms at Veterans' Park. There is, however, an assortment of workout apparatuses along the northern edge of...
Read moreWhat a cool park! My kids were so excited when we pulled up and saw the huge slides! They climbed all of the obstacles and went down the slides a ton of times. (As a side note, there are many opportunities for kids to fall from the play area near the climbing obstacles so I stayed super close just in case.) After some play and swinging we took a walk out on to the pier and saw 2 bald eagles and a dolphin. We made our way through the park and found a smaller play area fit for young kids. Eventually we made it to the far end of the park and found a climbing dome and a monkey bars setup which allowed for another round of fun! Throughout the park there are signs with info about the solar system and QR codes to scan and hear lots of interesting facts. My kids loved this part, too! There is also a huge open field for kicking around a ball or having a picnic and an amphitheater with a stage to climb around on. I’m looking forward to seeing some fun shows there this spring and summer. Don’t drive by this park, it is worth the stop! Fun for the...
Read moreThis has always been one of my favorite local parks! I posted a review a while back with different pictures and a lot more detail. It keeps getting better and better, though, as they maintain this park very well. They’ve completely redone the pier and added new things to see and do. There are restrooms, two playgrounds, an amphitheater and lots of fun festivals with music and entertainment. My favorite thing to do is to sit on the pier and watch the fisherman bring in interesting fish, shark, and stingray. I love photography, and this is one of the best spots to take great sunset and moon rise photos. I’ve caught some good lighting storms off in the distance too. The park is open past sunset, but be aware that the bugs like to come out right at dusk. I usually go sit in my car right after the sun sets and then go back onto the pier once it’s dark. Love the fresh air and the breeze here! You can also walk along the Bay and into the little...
