beauty.
The True Voice, always behind the Bishop one hundred percent in this project, said on April 28, 1905: "...how many years will it take? The answer to this question will, of course, depend on the response that will be made to the appeal for funds. The building board has decided, and we think wisely, not to go into debt and to make no contract unless the money to pay for it be already on hand. This wise policy of the board means that there must be prompt and generous response on the part of the public to the appeal for funds, unless the work is to be suffered to drag on indefinitely . . . Since the Cathedral belongs to the whole diocese, the diocese should be interested in its erection and that none should consider themselves exempt from the obligation of contributing on the ground that they could not give...
Read moreI first started attending mass after my divorce seven years ago. Honestly I mostly go for the music but I never ever ever ever go to Christmas mass and I bet you'd like to know why. Well I'll tell ya. Too crowded. Is that a crime? Maybe in the law of The Lord but not the law of America. Anyway, yesterday I decided to go to Christmas Eve mass because hey why not give it a shot. I could probably deal with crowd for one night in the name of The Lord. I did refuse communion though because I wasn't about to wait in THAT line just for a freaking cookie. The priest was pretty good, he talked a lot and sometimes I spaced out I'm not gonna lie. But hey that happens. Spacing out is neither a crime of The Lord or America so therefore I have no shame in admitting it. But then things took a turn - as a classical music enthusiast I was absolutely APPALLED by the choice of music. The musicians themselves played just fine, IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT. But whoever chose the jams really has zero to no taste, or my name isn't David Barnes. So in conclusion, I'm still not convinced of this whole Jesus or Mohammed thing, but the church isn't too bad for what it is. But never again will I go to Christmas Eve mass that music was just a bit too...
Read moreYou don't have to be religous to appreciate the inner art work of mostly catholic churches, especially the older ones. We were welcomed with open arms, although the maintenance man was getting the church ready for I was a wedding, he was quite beneficial to us for his knowledge of the church. He wasn't rushing us or anything like that. He even went across the way, to bring a lady over, to give us pamphlets about the church. Then he told us about, yet another bigger church. Quite the polite gentile he was. You know who I'm talking, so thank you to the guy. But the details of the art, man, you have to appreciate that. No 3d engineering here. What a craftsman...
