Let me start by saying—this is a hate to love kind of review. And I mean that literally: I hate how much I love this place, because the experience was both infuriating and fantastic.
First off, if your business doesn’t take a major credit card like AMEX, say it up front. There are about a dozen polite ways to let someone know at the start of the transaction. Instead, I pull out my card and get hit with, “We don’t take that.” Cue awkward silence. If I hand you an AMEX, it’s because I want to use my AMEX. A little heads-up goes a long way, people.
Now—word of advice—don’t sit at the bar during peak hours unless you’re planning to grab one drink, close out, and vanish. The bartender was quick to greet and serve newcomers, which was great, but after that? Getting his attention felt like waving a red flag at a freight train—eventually it stops, but not before it barrels through five new tabs and four craft cocktails. Once you’re “back in economy,” good luck getting a refill.
Let’s talk pricing: two beers, a double cheeseburger, wings, and a Diet Coke hit $60. Not wild if you’re expecting a top-tier experience, but here’s the thing: if your prices climb that high, your service better climb with them. I walked in ready to pay more for quality, but when I couldn’t get a third drink in a reasonable time, we bailed.
Now to the silver lining—and it’s shiny. That bartender? Certified mixologist. I watched him make drinks like he was painting a Renaissance masterpiece. The bartender genuinely was a master at making a cocktail. He looked precise to us. Even though we didn't get an all star experience, we are not saying he wasn't impressive in moving customers. On both sides lol.
On to the food: the $17 double cheeseburger was phenomenal. I legit smiled and giggled mid-bite. That burger had no business being that good. My buddy’s wings? Fantastic. He even stole a bite of my burger and confirmed—it’s a winner. The fried Oreos? Best I’ve ever had. Period. They were sinful.
Final thoughts: the food? Slam dunk. The service? A minus. The vibe? Great—if you’re not in a hurry. It’s pricier, yeah, but the burger alone almost made me forget I was ignored at the bar.
Would I come back? Absolutely. But next time, I’m not keeping my tab open or I'll comeback when the Bar-back gets promoted. He was...
Read moreWe went specifically for the Korean corn dogs that's only available on Tuesday.
When we went there was a lot of seating inside. They have a beautiful mostly covered patio on the outside as well. When you order, you need to go up to the bar. They will bring the food out to you but you should wait for your drink. They did but let my friend bring me the drink I ordered and paid for to the table, but I understand that because they don't know who's at your party and they don't want someone messing with your drink.
This particular corn dog had a habanero, hot dorito batter? Whatever they did, I will say it was mighty tasty. That was a firm 5 star item.
Tots 3.5 stars I was told this was very delicious but tonight's offering was a bit limp and not that crispy. I'm told this was not the norm by others.
Lemon pepper wings 4 stars Caribbean Curry battered wings 3.75-4.25 stars. The sauce, batter and size if the wings for the second flavor was amazing but the actual chicken itself was lacking in flavor. Ironically due to the ridiculous meatiness of the wing, it made it more apparent that the flavor didn't penetrate into the meat (not that it needs to but it just tasted bland). The lemon pepper wings weren't as noticable for this.
The crab Rangoon gets a 4. I'm not a huge fan of crab Rangoon but this was a pleasant surprise. I could taste the Seafood inside and the sauce was a pleasant compliment.
I was told they were known for their chicken slider. I ordered it. It's a 4. I can't say I loved it (that's a 5) but I appreciated the sweet sauce and slaw that brightened it up.
Parking is difficult as it is in Blackstone, however there was a free Blackstone parking lot behind the building. I didn't realize that was parking that included them at first. There is of course metered parking on the street along with free side street parking. It's just...
Read moreI did not want to give them even 1 star. I did not like the atmosphere. I don't mind ordering at the bar, but don't expect a tip if I'm primarily waiting on myself. The Coke was warm and the serving size was maybe 6 ounces. We ordered tots, wings, burger with fries and it came to $38.00 which I thought was high. The tots were nothing marginal. The wings are not as good as several other establishments we frequent. I don't know about the burger and fries as I didn't eat any. When the wings were brought out the server took our food number. After 2 failed attempts to get her attention I raised my voice a little more to be heard over the all the other noise in the bar. When the server came back she scolded me for raising my voice. I asked about the burger and she didn't even know there was additional food on the order that we were waiting on. When the burger was brought out by someone else I was again scolded for raising my voice. The person next to me tried to explain I had tried twice to get the server's attention before raising my voice. He didn't care. I told him to refund my money and we left. I will not be treated in that manner for mediocre food that is overpriced. We went to Barley's in Council Bluffs and had a small pizza, 2 sodas (much larger serving), burger and fries for 33% less...
