The first museum in the U.S. to honor our 4th President James Madison. The Museum houses a wonderful collection of documents, costumes, farm equipment, Madison family artifacts and even a 1730's Patent House.
The James Madison Museum located in Orange, Virginia is a museum dedicated to 4th President of the United States James Madison and his wife, Dolley Madison. Exhibits include original furniture used by James Madison, his personal items, portraits of the Madisons, and a statue.
Due to Madison's reputation as a farmer, the museum also features a collection of antique farm tools. There is also a partially reconstructed 1733 house to demonstrate building practices.

Read moreI absolutely loved stopping by this museum when i was in Orange ! The volunteers were absolutely amazing and super sweet! This was a few years ago now, but i think about this experience quite often! The museum was almost completely devoid of people when i went, no wait of any kind and very very nicely organized ! I am an autistic individual with a special interest in american history. The staff were thrilled to talk about the amazing history, and went above and beyond! They even allowed me to see some items that couldn't be displayed, including clothing that was worn by Madisons wife! If you have time I 100% recommend stopping by this lovey place, it will forever be an experience that i keep very close...
Read moreThis is an excellent museum focusing on the contributions of James Madison to the foundations of our country. Well presented and quality displays and information. We were really impressed, also, by an outstanding collection of early farm and woodworking implements and tools. Maybe not in quantity but certainly in completeness that which you would find at The Henry Ford when it comes to small implements and tools.
