Edit:
We (myself, my wife and our 2 year old son) visited several months back and had a good experience. Unfortunately, we visited for a second time today, and it was a much worse experience. We walked in and the restaurant was about half full. We asked to be seated, and also asked for a high chair. The hostess told us she would get us a high chair, but instead she then just sat us at a table and went back to the front. My wife is then standing there holding our son, so I had to walk around to find a high chair (which I eventually did).
We then waited for about 6-7 minutes at our table, and no one stopped by to even introduce themselves or ask if we wanted anything to drink. I went up to the front and an older lady was standing up there. I wasn’t even sure if she worked there, so I started looking around for the hostess and she said “I asked someone to go to your table they should be by soon” and pointed towards a waitress who was taking an order from another table.
I then sat down and we waited for a few more minutes. I expected that the waitress would finish taking that order, then walk over ten feet and talk to us. However, I looked up and she had vanished. I then got up and saw the hostess just standing there, so I explained that we had been at our table for about 10 minutes and no one has even stopped by. Before she could even address my concern, that other lady quickly walked over and blurted out “I told you that someone would come over to your table!” She could have said “Has no one come over yet? Ok, I’ll go track someone down for you.” Instead, she decided to snap at me in a very rude manner. I told her to just forget it because we would go somewhere else and we left.
We then went to a restaurant down the street called Spoon and Spindle where the waitress stopped by after 30 seconds, and got our food in less than 10 minutes.
If you value your time at all, I wouldn’t waste it at Silk Mill Grille.
Here is my old review:
Very nice place, we really enjoyed eating here. Our server was attentive, and the food was...
Read moreI tried this restaurant back in 2007 and wasn’t impressed. My husband convinced me to give it another go last night and sadly, our experience was not a positive one. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we didn’t get that far before determining we needed to go elsewhere. The hostess left MUCH to be desired. We waited quite some time for the hostess to return after seating the party in front of us. In that time, another couple bypassed us in the line and went to the dining room to seat themselves despite the “please wait to be seated sign”. Once the hostess finally returned, she’d encountered the couple who walked by us in line. Upon returning, the hostess asked if we had reservations to which we replied, “no”. She informed us that we needed to give her some time to get situated to which we replied we’d just go elsewhere. After having waited for her to return then realizing she’d sat the party that wandered in in front of us I determined they were too unorganized and busy to accommodate us in an acceptable timeframe and we chose to go elsewhere. I mentioned the couple that jumped the line and she replied that they, “had a reservation”. I didn’t not realize that those were required and allowed you to skip the line at the hostess stand when there were plenty of empty tables to be seated at. The hostess made a few emotionally driven and rude comments when we decided to go elsewhere and I decided we would never return based upon her behavior alone. It’s a shame they weren’t better equipped to seat parties coming in. The hostess mentioned being the “only one working”. Odd, considering most establishments have only one hostess. The dining area wasn’t full by any means. I would recommend the hostess consider her customer service skills and behavior in the future. We went down the road to Main Street Tavern where we were immediately seated and served a remarkable dinner despite how busy they were...
Read moreMy fiancé and I went to Silk Mill for a dinner date and had a terrible experience. The restaurant was only about half full not even. We waited several minutes for our waitress to come to our table and when she finally did she didn’t introduce herself or anything just asked “what y’all want to drink?” we got waters and i ordered their “special” blueberry bold rock cider and she tried to correct me like i didn’t know what i was talking about. but i could barely get the words out before she said “need ID”. I thought it was a new draft beer but when she came back to the table she set a bold rock bottle in front of me. $6 for that when i know i could’ve bought a whole case of that at the store. We then ordered our food (crab dip, chicken sandwich with side salad, and a cheesesteak with fries). crab dip came out fine but then we waited over 45 mins for our food! When the waitress finally came out with our food, she just sat it in front of us and walked away. His chicken sandwich was okay but my cheesesteak came out with the bun on the side and the cheesesteak with peppers and onions in a separate pan, meaning i have to assemble it myself. My fries were also cold! I sat with that untouched cheesesteak and fries in front of me forever before the waitress came back to the table and when she did she asked “need a box??” I complained about the presentation of the cheesesteak and the fries being cold and she talked to her manager and said they can get me new fries but couldn’t do anything about the cheesesteak because that’s “just the way they do it”. still had to pay for the whole meal. Service was terrible. The waitress was like never around and not...
