The W.H. Stark House is a true gem of Southeast Texas history. This beautifully restored Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion instantly transports you back to the early 1900s with its ornate woodwork, stained glass, and attention to detail inside and out. From the sweeping porches to the tower and intricate trim, every inch tells a story of craftsmanship and elegance. Walking through the house, you don’t just see history—you feel it. The guides bring the Stark family legacy to life, weaving together stories of philanthropy, art, and the impact the Starks had on Orange and beyond. The collection of original furnishings and period décor makes it one of the best-preserved homes of its kind in Texas. The gardens are just as stunning, offering a peaceful place to stroll and admire the home’s unique architecture from different angles. Whether you’re a fan of history, architecture, or simply want to experience something timeless, this house is a must-see. If you’re anywhere near Orange, Texas, don’t miss the chance to visit the W.H. Stark House. It’s more than just a tour—it’s stepping into a piece of Texas heritage that continues to inspire. Second time here. First was 20 years ago, and everything is different. More rules, different people, more strict. The downside was the weather, making it overcast and crying out for sunshine. Otherwise the lack of interior lighting made it difficult to see the fine details which were only pointed out by flashlight for a split second. While about an hour long, the tour felt rushed with no time to properly admire everything.

This was my first visit. They are open for full house tours again in February. It's a very interesting house and the staff is very informative and so nice! The house is free to tour.

The house was absolutely beautiful ands the history was informational. But there is a side of the story that the tour guides won't tell you about. If you ask about certain histories, they play oblivious. Pictures were not aloud to be taken inside the house which drove me crazy because I love to look back ands share what I saw or where I've been with others. Our tour guide may have been new as she didn't know answers to the questions we asked. It was interesting but I don't think I...

The W.H. Stark House tour was excellent. This is a Beautiful home with a lot of unique interior woodwork that takes a little over an hour to tour. The home is beautifully furnished with 1900's furniture, decor, and other items. I grew up in this area, and I never knew this home existed. The tour is free, but a reservation has to be scheduled ahead of time. The staff are friendly and will answer questions about this...
