This place is HORRIBLE! We took a venue tour with one of their employees and she was great. We were told that we can use the outdoor space & that they only have 200 chairs but we can bring in more to fulfill our 400 guest count. We nonstop texted them about putting a deposit down & MICHELLE was horrible at communicating. The lady that gave us the tour was amazing. We texted Michelle about our date and she replies "sorry we didn't hear from you again so we already booked that date." Michelle told me she was going to email me the pricing packages along with floral information but NEVER did and when I contact her again she says our date was taken. We then asked for an alternate date and she said "I can check" and hung up the phone. After noticing how bad communication was we just drove down to the venue and 3 employees told us our original date was NOT booked at all. SO BASICALLY MICHELLE LIED! We talked to the amazing lady that gave us the tour and she took our information down instead and said she was going to contact us. 2 hours later, new information was brought to us and they said that all of a sudden they could not accommodate 400 guests and we would need to pay for the indoor & outdoor space AND cut our list down to 250. MICHELLE seemed very racist and tried to find every excuse not to have us there at the venue. NOT ONLY THAT, while speaking to her about the florist this whole time SHE was the actual florist and did not mention not once that she was the florist. She sucks at communicating and is definitely unprofessional! Beautiful venue but do not speak to MICHELLE if you're not of the white...
Read moreMy husband and I went into Shade today very excited to pick out everything we needed to fully landscape our yard. I had seen the location and thought it was beautiful so I was excited when my contractor mentioned this would be a great place to look. After a few minutes of browsing, I went inside to ask for help making a large order. The lady at the front desk said it would be a minute before she could have someone help me. I told her I just wanted to pick out what I’m needing and my contractor would call in to take care of it because that is part of our contract with him. She then cut me off and told me that if my contractor was going to take care of it, then I was on my own to pick out what I needed and that I needed to walk back to the wholesale section. She also said that if I wanted her help, then I was going to pay today and pay retail prices. Now I understand the way business works and the need to keep margins high, but this entire situation was handled poorly. I pointed out that I was literally doing what my contractor had asked me to and I was caught in the middle. The employees did not show any care or concern to try and help so my husband and I got back in the car and drove to Cook’s nursery and spent over $10,000. The point is, we were never after a discount and just wanted good service and so treating us poorly was worth $10k to them today....
Read moreI really, really wanted to like this place. But be aware: 1) they do wedding receptions. Parking is a NIGHTMARE, no matter what day or time you go. I've been there on a Saturday morning, a Tuesday at 1 pm, and a Thursday at 3 pm. On two ocassions, I couldn't find ONE parking space. I waited a while, then left. The third time I went in and again there was a reception going on. Guests are all over the place, even resting and chatting in the places where you, the customer, is supposed to be looking at what you'd like to buy. and 2) if you have a balance issue or bad knees, just skip this place all together. Instead of grass or a nice flat surface to walk on, most places are surrounded by a bed of large pebbles, not easy at all to walk on them. 3) A bit overpriced --- My recommendation: If you're looking for budget nursery items or plants: Walmart/Lowes/HomeDepot/Cooks. If you're looking for really nice stuff that you won't find anywhere else and are not afraid of paying a bit more, skip Shade and head over to Sun River Gardens. Ample parking. Not the greatest customer service there, and yes, things are pricey. But Shade is also pricey and just not a "customer-oriented" place. They didn't think of the customer experience very well. They cater mostly to those attending an event. Call it an event Center, not a...
