Nice little beach in a quiet neighborhood. Good for a quick pull over. My family and I stopped in during our vacation and I we had a good time. There is a little picnic area with a picnic bench that you could have a small family sit at and enjoy a nice lunch. The beach itself is nestled in the rear of the small beachy waterfront town of Oriental. I'm not sure where you get a unique name like that for a small town on the coast of Nort Carolina but there you have it. My only qualm with the beach is the lack of direction for parking. The write up on the web.
“The Neuse has been plagued in recent years with environmental and public health problems related to municipal and agricultural waste water discharge, storm runoff, and other sources of pollution.[11] Pollution was particularly bad in the aftermath of hurricanes Fran and Floyd in the...
Read moreBias disclaimer, this beach is named for my Great Uncle John. I’ve spent plenty of time here, (but not nearly as much as I wanted) typically in the summers growing up when visiting family. Lots of great memories were made here, and will continue to make more. If you’re lucky enough to be in the area on the second Sunday of August, be sure to stop by the Annual Bond Watermelon cutting (across from the beach). The event is open to all. Bring...
