Colonel Joe Kittinger Park — Attraction in Orlando

Needs some shade! This park has a nice view of the airfield and the jungle gym is pretty good. I hate to complain about any park that tries to provide a nice play area for kids but the problem is this park requires a long walk of about 100 yards from the parking lot to the tot lot. This walk is in the open Florida sun and then once you get to the park there is no shade trees at all. There is a pavilion for shade but it's rather far away from the jungle gym so you can't be nearby your little ones. The actual play area itself is also totally exposed to the sun. I realize this is because of low flying planes but for it to be functional for anyone it needs to have something providing shade. My other gripe is there are no benches for the adults near the play area. This park is worth going to once and seeing it for yourself. Love this park I love the Vietnam era jet it has on display I love the fact that you can hear the flight Tower and the pilots communicating with each other you can hear them tell the pilot clear for takeoff or clear for landing it's neat if you like that sort of thing and my wife and I we love it and my daughter she loves it she gets to play at the little park and watch small Jets and small airplanes take off and land to great place to be in the middle of all the turmoil of traffic if you're aggravated and frustrated with it you can pop off the 408 and be here within 2 seconds if you're on the 408 and in the area and if you're not on the 408 which is the East-West Expressway and you can be in downtown Orlando and be here within minutes it's it's a great escape from all the turmoil it's a beautiful Lake to view and the airport to view and it's a good Escape all...

This is a nice tucked in park on a busy corner. Its soo quiet, I love watching the planes go by. It’s surrounded by water so seeing turtles is pretty common. Opportunities for bird sightings.

There is a kids park, and also plenty of space for picnic spots. It’s connected to Orlando trail, so feel free to walk over to Lake Underhill!
