  • UPDATED ON SEPT 12TH f * I have always been a huge supporter of this public library because my family moved here in 1982. However, today I attended the library with my colleague. We were both attempting to find a quiet location to study for our state and federal exams. Between all the madness of kids making such a disturbance, being forced out of the study room and then the teen room, we will never contribute to this library again. This is not a quiet place and definitely not conducive to studying when we were shifted around FOUR times. This is ridiculous. The employee that came to have us leave the empty teen room came shortly after we tapped on the window. We observed 5 kids with 2 adult females who were hitting each other and acting unruly for well over 20 minutes. After my coworker tapped on the window to get their attention the women reported US. Lol. Please monitor the area you are 'in charge of' better so that ALL folks can enjoy the library. There is an entire childrens' section for rowdy learners. If your kids are gonna make noise, that is perfect. If you are going to loudly play monopoly, that is a wonderful area. If your children are going to run up and down the aisles chasing each other, take them home! I am a mom too... I would never visit that behavior on other guests at the local library. It was so rude. I love children but this was so inappropriate. We were forced out of the quiet room twice for supervised visitations. We ended up studying in the corridor after being shuffled in and out of spaces FOUR TIMES. The only reason I would ever return is for passport renewal. The gentleman who ran that section was COURTEOUS and PROFESSIONAL. It is disappointing that when adults are observing misbehaving kids finally tap on a window to ask them to stop, the responsible adults get scolded. Please do better... I grew up in this town and love Palm Coast but the rude employee who came in and approached us was not acting in the best interest of the general public. Notice your area sooner and address the ones disturbing everyone else, then folks won't bother to enter the empty teen area because all the other quiet areas are occupied. You really missed out on doing your job effectively. You didn't need to talk to us like we were a nuisance. We know what happened and why you came because you addressed the gal in the room who finally drew attentions to the careless adults who let kids continue on like they did. For shame. Best of luck in "your area" ... lucky for you, you have a quiet area because we surely couldn't find one. Maybe patrol it better and treat people with respect. We were as respectful as we could be...moved 3 TIMES before tapping at those moms. Ridiculous.

This is such a great library for the littles. They have their own section for reading, studying and creative play. They decorate it with themes. Their story programs and classes are readily available and updated on their facebook page. We recently attended a story book time with presentation done by the local mosquito control group. Library staff helped guide us to the event room location from the moment we walked in the entrance all the way back to the room where the event would take place. Employees held the door open for us to enter and everything. They sometimes have classes which require registration so if you plan on attending, ask the staff if registration is required. We highly recommend this library if you have tiny tots. We have not ventured out into the other part of the library as not to disturb the...

The children's department is terrific! If we'd spent any more time there, they probably would have wanted us to pay rent! I am a life-long reader, one of my favorite things to do is to browse the shelves and borrow as many books as I can carry B^) The people working in all of the departments are always pleasant and helpful. My kids are all grown up now, the youngest is in college & voted (early-voting) AT the Library in the first election after his 18th birthday. That was as important (and maybe as exciting) to the poll workers as it was for him and I was happy to be there. Check the Calendar and GO to the Library! Behave yourselves, make sure you return games with ALL of the pieces...and, shh, people are reading and...

We have lived a lot of places and this is by far the worst library I have ever been to. It makes me mad thinking my tax payer dollars go here. My main complaint is that they do not use the Amazon top seller lists to order their books- they order complete junk no one has heard of. The library is filled with crappy westerns and mysteries no one wants while you can barely find an Amazon top book. There should be a regulation on this. Second problem is the library allows Jehova Witnesses to sit outside all day, everyday handing out fliers. I have never been to a library or public place that allows this. Really wrong! This place needs a major overall or just shut down- it is a pathetic excuse for a library and a waste of tax...
