I was hoping for better food experience after reading the reviews, but unfortunately I was disappointed with the food. I asked for Chicken Panang with peanut sauce and was told they don't make that dish. How can you call yourself a Thai restaurant and not have one of the most Classic Thai Dishes in any Thai restaurant. I ordered a Thai Tea and Sweet Girl special roll while I waited for my take out order.. The tea was watered down and did not taste anything like what Thai Tea should taste like. The Tempura in the roll was stale and tasted like the oil had not been changed in a while. I ordered a teriyaki shrimp and scallops with vegetables that was ok. The other order was shrimp and scallops with vegetables with very light sauce. Both dishes came with very few veggies and too much sauce. It felt like I was eating sauce soup. The order took a long time to come out and the restaurant was empty. I would hate to see what it would be like if the place was full. The staff was nice and I found out that they were Chinese owners selling Thai and sushi. I wonder if there food would taste better if they sold Chinese food instead. Now I know someone will probably be offended by my last statement but it's true. I'm Colombian and I know that I could never sell authentic Mexican food if I owned a restaurant. I will give this place a second chance and try other food on the menu, but my first experience...
Read moreI bought a Groupon coupon to try this place out. The only requirement on the coupon was that we make a reservation, and it could not be used for taxes or gratuity, pretty simple.
We ordered four different sushi rolls and a bottle of Chardonnay. Told that the wine would be $15, which was certainly reasonable. Then she showed up with "Oak Leaf" from Walmart that sells for $2.99. First off, didn't expect to get Walmart wine, and not pay a 5 time mark-up.
They were advertising a summer special. The sushi was discounted for the summer, that has nothing to do with the Groupon, which is simply a credit against whatever we order. When the check arrived, the server said that the specials did not apply to the Groupon coupon, adding another $16 to the check. Rather than argue, I paid up and left.
All four sushi rolls were distinctly different, but all tasted almost the same. I'll never return, going back to our favorite sushi restaurant Fancy...
Read moreMy wife and I have been enjoying Kawa Sushi on a weekly basis for the past few months. Considering the waitress has our order memorized (just for fun we do change it up on her every once and a while) along with us, I guess you can say we have become regulars.
We typically get the three roll lunch special and an order of Pad Thai. For the rolls we get the Shrimp Tempura (2) and the Sweet Potato (1). Here is the funny thing, I don't typically like sweet potato anything, but tried it because of my wife and it turns out I love it. The Pad Thai, has excellent flavor and unlike others I have had, it doesn't have that sweet, jelly like, flavor that can dominate the flavor and linger in the mouth.
If I had one complaint, I wish they would consider a re-model. While the restaurant is clean, it is showing its age, but it doesn't deter me from enjoying my...
