This dog park is only one of a very few that I have visited. With that said, let it know that Palm springs dog park is rather impressive in more ways than one. First off.... It's freaking huge! Has plenty of space for dogs to run around and get out all their energy. Not in just the big dog side but the small dog side as well. Secondly, It's clean, and very well maintained. Providing everything necessary in order to keep you and your dog from leaving any mess behind. Thirdly, I have experienced nothing but kind patrons and dog owners who visit the park. Very welcoming and warm environment for any dog can enjoy. And just the inside scoop for those reading on November 12th till December 20th the dog park will be closed for reseeding so anyone who hasn't been to this park yet try to aim for visiting after December 20th where the grass should be nice and lush and fresh. P.S. while at this dog Park, I witnessed two little dogs kind of getting into a fight. It was nothing major but it was a pretty obvious fight. But to my surprise, both Masters of said dogs, handle it quite well. So just remember if your dog is Big stay in the big side part and if your dog is small stay in the small dog side unless you want your dog to be playing with bigger dogs. Unless your dog can handle it keep him on its own side. It's not...
Read moreThis park looks nice. However, the times I’ve been there, the grass is soaked wet, the local people aren’t monitoring their dogs and poop isn’t getting picked up. Also people bring their aggressive dogs into the park. The last (and final) time I went to this park is because i was trying to bring in my female fixed puppy shepherd and I could barely get through the gate because this male shepherd mix kept trying to get on my pup. I kept trying to make space between myself and my pup so I could disconnect the leash and as I kept doing that the male dog started to growl and show his teeth at me. The owner sitting on the bench at the entrance in his camo clothes watched the whole thing taking place says to me “watch out, he bites”. I said to him, “Really? You’re bringing your aggressive dog to the dog park?!” He said its because he’s young. I said, no it’s your job to watch your dog and train him not to be aggressive.” While this is happening, my poor girl was trying to get away from this guys dog and eventually runs and cowers between the legs of the guy on the bench.
Not cool. We left after 5 minutes. I would not...
Read moreI've been to dozens of dog parks, and the small dog park at Palm Springs Civic Center is by far the worst I’ve ever visited.
First, the grass is nearly dead, leaving large areas of mud. Second, the city allows patrons to leave furniture in the park, resulting in about 40 mismatched chairs scattered throughout. These chairs are unsightly, inappropriate, and potentially dangerous for both dogs and people, as they are low-quality and largely sourced from trash receptacles around the city. They also take up so much space that there's barely enough room for dogs to run and play.
Third, many visitors fail to clean up after their dogs. They sit in the dilapidated chairs, often facing away from their pets, and conveniently "don’t see" when their dogs relieve themselves. If you point it out, you’ll likely be met with hostility. The regulars treat the park more like a personal social club than a space for exercising dogs, and they often act as though they have authority over it simply because they've been going...
