WPBjet is telling the truth about the horrible communication at this school and the terrible way that online courses are set up. I attempted to communicate the school's areas in need of improvement with the District Business Degree Program Office. Instead, I received a response that glossed over my concerns and then tried to passive aggressively shame me. I responded to tell her why certain things occurred to which she never responded. I even had the internship coordinator ignore me. He did not answer my call, so I emailed him. He never responded. I called him again and he did not identify himself when he answered. Instead, he told me that I had the incorrect number. What he doesn't know is that I personally received his number from the professor who teaches the intern class. I also double checked and got the same number from the class syllabus AND his profile on the school website. That is extremely unprofessional. If you go to this school then you better hope you have a few hours free when trying to get in touch with advising or any other department at the school. The queue will sometimes kick you out of the line and then you have to start over. Another example is I was speaking to a member of the staff who told me I had to turn something in that was overdue. At no point did she tell me that she was going to place me on a registration hold. I had already settled this about a year and a half ago with another staff member. The other staff member gave me an extension of until I graduate or I would not be getting my diploma. I found out I was on a registration hold when I could not register for any classes. I can go on and on about how terrible this school is. Ohhhhh, the amount of "busy" work that the online classes give is equivalent to someone in a Master's program (thesis). Be ready to write several papers and essays because a lot of the courses are only offered as an online modality. Also be prepared to pay extra money for the online class just to teach yourself the material. Most of the instructors ignore you or respond weeks later. There is less than a handful of instructors that I have met that truly care about teaching. I will say almost everyone I have met or spoke with in advising has been helpful and caring. I had one advisor who was terrible the one time I had an appointment to meet with her. Do yourself a favor, and go to a different school. Broward and Dade have the same programs and other programs. Palm Beach State will never improve until enrollment drops. There's a reason why so many students transfer after they receive...
Read moreThis school is horrible they only care about money not their students. i went to this school and during the middle of my semester i had 3 yes 3 deaths in my family starting with my sister in January, my father in March and my brother in April of that same year. This school not only put me on academic probation they wouldn't lift it after hearing about my situation it was to late within the year to withdraw from classes so i emailed my teachers about what happened. I basically was told no because they didn't want to give me financial aide again because many students were just trying to get money..WHAT I was not one of those student who had much of anything left i always chose min 4/5 class so me going to school for the money like some of the other no way. I am so fed up with this school. The Belle Glade campus was the worst i couldn't even get them on the phone ever.."no surprise" so after getting in touch with the lake worth campus and getting this financial aid thing lifted to be able to get it again the Belle glade office had yet to lift the academic probation status.. So now because of these lazy people im going to a much better school but im paying out of pocket because they did not lift it..the lake worth campus had the school had the nerve to email me after i requested my transcripts and starting at another school, asking if i was going to attend there school this semester..No thank you i'll give my money to a school that actually cares about their students not the money they want from u..They didn't care about my being a single disabled mom of two kids, one with autism trying to get an education and had loss half of her family,,when i needed them to understand they seemed to not care.. So no i will not go back to u..I wouldn't want to give you the credit for what i worked hard to accomplish..The people at my new school are trying to do all the can to help me achieve my goal thank you IRSC. and thank you PBCC for pushing me into an...
Read moreThe EMT class at the Lake Worth campus is the WORST class in the world. I will provide you with specific reasons as to why this class is a total WASTE of time and money.
A packet listing the prices of requirements including medical physicals, uniforms, and more is given to students at a mandatory orientation. Each and every student was lied to and were all unexpectedly asked to pay a total of 250% more. The cost for additional items was more than twice the amount of what they lied and said it would cost. The price to register for the class is outrageous to begin with. All the money students pay goes towards absolutely nothing.
From 8:30am-12:00pm students sit and listen to an instructor literally read portions of the book that students can read on their own. From 1:00pm-4:30pm students are shown how to do a skill such as CPR which was already a requirement to get in the class anyway. These skills take ten minutes to learn and the rest of the day is expected to be spent learning that same skill.
Students grades are based primarily from EMStesting dot com. This is the most horrible part of the class because the instructors do not teach students what is going to be on the tests. My class confronts the lead instructor after every test since the first one and argues UNCONTESTED that these questions were never explained or taught. Some questions we have removed from our grade and others are left to reflect an atrocious grade and GPA. Take the class and I guarantee you'll be lost on the tests after 8 hour classes of nonsense that have nothing to do with the actual online tests.
The EMT class at Palm Beach State College is a total WASTE of time and money. I hate this school and all the instructors with a deep insidious passion. I will...
