I had the most special experience watching San Francisco Ballet perform at an open air theatre. Of course I absolutely loved Act II from Swan Lake, but my favorite from the Starry Nights program is Solo by Hans van Manen! So honored to see the SF Ballet premiere of 5 Tango’s as well 💃 The experience was just so lovely, summery, bay area core… definitely an essential stanford experience ❤️🌲 (stanford students can get two tickets at a discounted price!)
Not only is Frost Amphitheater spacious, clean, and family-friendly, most areas give you a decent view of the stage! I made sure to get the lawn, general admission tickets because isn’t it just the perfect summer activity to picnic and enjoy ballet with live music?!! 😩💙
beyond grateful 🩰💛 (I WILL come back for another show at frost 🌲🧺)
things to take note of: completely CLEAR bags only (or you’ll have to throw/hide your bag in the bush) review their policy & prohibited items before you pack!! strict (but efficient) security 🔐 pack water!! you do not want to spend $5 on a can of still water 😙🕶️ bring a sweater/blanket because it does get...
Read moreI first attended a concert here in 1989 when this place was just a meadow on the hill. Since the good old days, the Stanford University Campus has very tastefully developed their campus and the improvements to Frost were very well done. As ADA laws required venues to comply with safety and accessibility code, the tradeoff is a loss of seating capacity. The brilliant architectural and landscaping design improved the space in every way. The stage meets the highest standards of stage craft: sufficient grid and power, sight lines, sound reinforcement and acoustics. Its intimate terraced lawn naturally fits an audience with easy access to everywhere in the venue. Frost's operations are suitably staffed, and feature quality concessions and clean, well serviced facilities. Parking was easy, if you bring a credit card; in fact cash doesn't work as well in most venues, nowadays
Come to Frost! You have got to see an afternoon concert. or maybe a sunset concert, but get at least two hours in the natural light where you can enjoy the golden California sunshine on a sublime Stanford...
Read moreRudest people ever. My friends and I were going into see a concert, but the policy suddenly changed ti transparent bags only. My friend was using another friend’s tote bag and the security guard told us to get rid of it. He was hesitant on what to do because it wasn’t his. This other guard came and told him “don’t play with me” about putting it away, even though he wasn’t saying anything or doing anything wrong. The guard was super short tempered and grabbed the bag out of my friend’s arms and throw it into the bushes. We were shocked and a different guard at the gate said to another guard “i don’t know what these kids are doing” in this snarky tone? We felt pressured to go in so we went inside without retrieving the bag. After the concert we looked for the bag and couldn’t find it, we asked at the med tent a few steps away from where the bag was thrown and apparently we could’ve left the bag with them, but the rude guards didn’t bother to tell us. The bag was even an official $40 bag of the singer we saw. I don’t know how anyone could’ve ever...
