This place reminds me of when I was a kid. Going for a hike thru the woods of eucalyptus in the urban wilderness. Where friends had gathered by the creek with the frogs and goldfish, while ravens fly overhead and peacocks wail in the distance. It’s still the same now, tho the goldfish are gone. Someone must have put those pet shop fish in there! The same could be said of the peacocks of which there’s an abundance of around Palos Verdes. The eucalyptus trees are also not indigenous to the area, as an Aussie hiker may feel right at home here. It is a raven haven for as long as anyone can remember, that’s why I’ll wear a hat when walking through the little forrest here! It’s a beautiful place to take a nature walk, walk the dog, hike and jog here. Kids love the natural world of discovery and will have fond memories as I have! Those who go beyond the creek area, will soon notice that they’re on a trail surrounded by a golf course! It’s still possible to hike along the sandy ridge trail to the end, all the way to the green of the Palos Verdes Golf Club course. Care should be exercised tho, as it can be intrusive, unexpectedly stepping out from the trails and into someone’s golf game, not to mention the danger of getting hit by a golf ball! Parking may be a consideration with the restrictions and time limits along Via Tejon. Best to see the street signs before leaving the...
Read moreGreat trail for kids. As you enter, there is an area down to the left with a creek with lots of fun areas to explore. Logs to climb over, stones to step on to cross the creek, critters in the water - last time we were there we saw this crayfish. There is also a more open area in the middle with less shade that is heavily used by mountain bikers. If you cross over to the other side of the open area, there is another area with dense vegetation and some elevation gain. It's not a long trail, but there are lots of areas to explore and some great views of the bay if you...
Read moreA good friend of mine recommended this trail to me and I’m so glad she did. We love to hike and it’s always great to find a trail that’s SO kid friendly. Multiple shady spots along the path, extremely picturesque, local wildlife sightings for the kiddos and adults, and a variety of terrain to explore from lush, verdant glens to dusty, old western style sandy stretches with gorgeous, sweeping views of the neighboring golf course. Truly enjoyable hike tucked right into the little neighborhood road that winds behind the...
