I really wanted to enjoy my visit to the Fenyes Mansion, and I have to say the museum staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. However, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by one of the mansion staff members who treated me and my group with unnecessary suspicion and rudeness.
He accused me of being “dressed up” and assumed I was a celebrity taking commercial photos with our cell phone— which was completely untrue. We made it clear that we were happy to just walk around without taking pictures, especially since there was a wedding shoot happening nearby. Despite that, he told us, very rudely, that the garden was closed to us and pointed at a sign. He even said, “What if you posted your pictures and everyone came here?” — which made it sound like he didn’t want visitors at all.
It was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The museum staff did apologize and said they hoped we would return another time, but also admitted there wasn’t much they could do about the situation.

Read moreBooked a tour the same day online which was very easy to do. Cost about 20 dollars roughly which I felt was well worth it. My tour guide was Pamela who was fantastic. You do wear plastic covers for your shoes when in the house but they provide this. The tour lasted about an hour and you could take photos. I really enjoyed it, our group was small with lots of chances to ask questions. They can store any bags that you can’t take in the house. There is a toilet and gift shop on site. I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend. It is located in Pasadena a short walk from the Main Street. Thank you Pamela for a very interesting tour of this beautiful...

On the way back to the museum you see the Finnish Folk Art Museum. You only get to look through...
