Randomly decided to read the reviews after going here intermittently for a few years and saw some complaints that hurt my brain, so here's my two cents. First off, it's a great store with a fantastic selection of singles. I saw some people frustrated with singles being kept in the back and (typically) ordered online, which blows my mind because Untapped is the ONLY LGS I've ever been to with an up to date singles inventory. I work five minutes away and have placed orders in the morning for obscure 50 cent uncommons which I've picked up on my lunch break. As far as I'm concerned, I would much rather know what a store actually has instead of searching through binders and boxes for a bulk card that was never catalogued. Second, I find it strange to see people complaining about prices and saying that online retailers are cheaper, because you are not being forced to buy anything in store and can simply buy from somewhere else if you do not like the prices Is it frustrating to see sealed products marked up? Sure! Have I gotten excellent deals that have saved me plenty of money on products I can't get my hands on elsewhere through Untapped? You bet! And if I'm not going to question the deals I get from them, then it seems hypocritical to question the prices I may consider a little bit steep. I'm not the one paying rent and keeping the lights on, so I'm not going to tell them what they should or shouldn't charge. They also have reasonable purchase limits to get products into the hands of the local community which I really appreciate (cannot emphasize this enough)!!! Lastly, as for the service, while I've typically been in and out without much conversation, I have a friend who went in ready to sell his entire collection after being taken advantage of by another store, and happily left with a new deck because an employee sat down with him, helped him out, and treated him fairly (when they very easily could've bought off his collection for cheap and made a quick buck). Sure, I don't have any exceptional stories like this, but they made my friend happy when it mattered and I care about that more. So... Overall, I would highly recommend you go and I am glad that they are a part of the community. Cheers to anyone who read...
Read moreCool local card store with room for players to play, but unfortunately the owners business practices are killing the hobby by taking advantage of the secondary market and hype by charging sometimes 3-4x higher than MSRP on products. I would not spend my hard earned money somewhere that takes advantage of the market to screw their loyal customers out of buying new products. I hope this place will change their policies but I highly doubt they will. Do not spend your money here. You’re better off checking out target and Walmart for MSRP prices. Only thing is place is good for now is playing games with other community members. Just gross it has to be done in front of the crooks who own this place.
Edit on 2/6 after Untapped responded:
You forget that you are a Local Game Store and you have distribution prices. The more and more I’ve watched how you operate the more it’s obvious that you are not here for us, the players. You can change your ways though, but we won’t hold our breaths. How about trying what other REPUTABLE stores do, which is sell the product at MSRP and have the purchaser open the product in store or unseal the product as before they walk out the door. This can easily be done on ETBs. But we all know you won’t do this because you’re laughing all the way to the bank with this set. Might as well call your self a scalper than a local game...
Read moreThis is honestly one of the best websites I’ve found for not only D&D Things, but also Magic the Gathering cards, I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve almost gotten ripped off buying something off Amazon or EBay, only to find it for 1/3, possibly even 1/4 of the price in-store or on the website in an even better quality and condition than on Amazon or EBay, their really good at not overpricing their cards (a great example, recently I bought two 2023 edition SoundWave, Sonic Spy MTG cards (non-foil) for $1.40 for both of them, when I was about to pay $40 for one (also not a foil card) off of EBay) literally a wallet saver 10/10 would recommend for finding things for D&D, Pokemon, Magic, Warhammer and so many other things for a low price. My only real complaint is that it’s hard to catch things like Secret Lair cards or D&D figures/books (such as Spell Jammer) when they come back in stock because the site doesn’t send notifications, when things are on a wishlist. But I’m still giving it 5 stars because it’s a great website with really nice people working in-store.
Edit: I ended up reaching out and I wanted to give a Shout out to Stephen Weed for helping me find a set of cards that I’ve been trying to track down! Thank...
