Update: This review is solely based on my individual experience and not my team's. My core concern was how you made me feel—unwelcome. I arrived late, put my items away, and started sanding. My entire review focused on the delivery and reception of your communication and the resulting negative atmosphere. Honestly, if your communication had been more friendly and professional, we likely wouldn't have felt this way, and the sense of being rushed wouldn't have been taken so negatively. Your response, however, is fixating on the time difference, which I explicitly acknowledged and that you chose not to charge us for. That was never the main complaint. The issue was, and remains, your attitude toward us. Instead of focusing on the time, please focus on improving your approach moving forward. My team recently visited The Rustic Brush in Pearland for a team building event. The hands on project was exactly what we needed after a long week, and the end product was genuinely neat. While we all had a good time once the crafting began, the initial customer service significantly impacted our overall experience.
First, potential visitors should know the location is tricky to find, which led to me arriving about 10 minutes late. I was immediately met with a harsh tone regarding the lost time. While I completely understand the importance of keeping to the 3 hour schedule, the delivery felt unwelcoming and set a very uncomfortable atmosphere for our entire group. The message was delivered with visible frustration, making us feel immediately like an inconvenience rather than paying customers.
This sense of being unwelcome continued as the instructor began critiquing our initial steps without providing basic instruction. Since none of us had ever done this type of project before, we were essentially treated as though we should already know the process. The communication surrounding the $100 overtime fee, while a policy I understand, was also delivered aggressively, adding unnecessary stress to what should have been a relaxing event.
Thankfully, the atmosphere improved noticeably after the instructor seemed to realize we were uncomfortable. She started being friendlier and provided more thorough, helpful explanations, which allowed us to finally settle in and enjoy the activity. We ultimately went past the 3-hour mark but were not charged, for which we were grateful.
Overall Recommendation: If you are looking for a fun, creative team building activity where you can build something genuinely cool, I would recommend The Rustic Brush. However, be prepared for a potentially difficult or unwelcoming initial experience regarding time management and instruction style. The activity is fun, but the comments made throughout our session were unnecessary and unfortunately overshadowed the positive parts...
Read moreWow. We just got off the phone with the person in charge of this location, or whoever answers this business’ phone during operating hours, who was of zero help, and also quite rude. To be honest, it seemed as if she wasn’t interested in having any business at all. The store states that it doesn’t open until 2pm, so we called immediately after 2, hoping to come in for a short project. No one answered, so we called again 15 minutes later and this person who answered (the business phone number) was clearly very busy by the rushed pace of our conversation. When asking about booking at her location, she was very short and spoke to me in a condescending manner. I explained that in the past we had made an appointment for a project on the same day, at a different location, and she argued that all store locations operate the same way. However, we know this is not true because we had an AMAZING experience at The Rustic Brush Galleria, where we booked our project the day of. Whoever was working that day was kind, helpful and is the reason we chose to try to do another project at the The Rustic Brush again. I’m not upset that we couldn’t get in for the project, because if that is, indeed, all store’s policy, then it should be that way at every store. And if you have no availability that day or you’re full, we get that. But maybe just having a little more patience and not speaking your future potential clients like they’re stupid would be a great start at increasing the chances of...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a wonderful experience here for a Girl Scouts’ gathering. We had separate workshop tables for the adults and children and side tables were provided for the snacks and drinks we brought. The helpfulness and efficiency of Rhonda and her staff allowed our large, energetic group of about 20 children and 15 adults to socialize and complete our projects within the 3-hour time frame allotted. Rhonda showed me how to use the nail gun to safely assemble my piece and provided guidance when I wanted to make an adjustment to my design.
At the end of the session, Rhonda took a moment to talk to the girls about the different painting techniques and color schemes they used to help them be knowledgeable about the subtle differences and appreciative of everyone’s creativity. This was a great outing for the entire group and the projects turned...
