I definitely understand why there are a lot of 5 star reviews. If you are above 16, not a parent, and come on a nice day, you will likely have a great time. But, we basically wasted $40. Do not come here if you have younger kids. I understand that safety is imperative and the top priority. But, the swim test, which you have to take if you are under 16 is illogical. Firstly, you have to pay before taking the test. Secondly, if you do not pass, then you can only "swim" in the shallow side, which has a lot of algea and is not good for playing in. Thirdly, why 16? You can pass the test or you can't. It is arbitrary and I can promise you that there are plenty of people there who could not pass the test that are at least 16. You have to swim the length of the deep side (maybe 20 meters) freestyle 3 times, then a 4th length backstroke, then wade for a minute, no breaks. One of my kids swam the first 3 lengths, then was stopped halfway through the backstroke when his sister kept bumping into him and he stopped doing a "proper" backstroke. My wife is an ex-lifeguard and could not make any sense out of the swim test. You should not have to pay $10 to watch you kids swim, and you should not have to pay a full $10 to only be allowed in the shallow side, which is not even really an option. Wristbands for whether you are swimming or not, and on what side would be a...
Read moreThis place deserves a 0. While there with a group Of friends and their kids ages 7-14 Unsupervised teenagers were using foul language, hanging off diving boards, jumping in the water making inappropriate gestures and nothing was done by the TEENAGERS that were on staff- not an adult in sight. When a parent confronted a lifeguard about the behavior and punishment that her child was receiving for jumping off of a rock (scrubbing rocks- an absolutely fair punishment- age appropriate for an 11 year old would not be 30+ minutes that he was at when questioned by the parent) male lifeguard’s response, “He’s done when I say he is”. He then continued to talk down to the adult and told her “this is how we do things if you don’t like it leave”. Meanwhile, a female lifeguard walks past where the boy being punished is scrubbing the pushes more muck on the rocks with her foot and says ”You need to do a better job this is still dirty (witnessed by multiple people)”. One worker was Friendly yet refused to refund any money claiming, “We are not allowed to...
Read moreVisited on ''Quarry Day" with three kidlets under 12 and was absolutely stunned with how fun this hidden gem is. Everyone wanted to return the next day but was too tired from the billion jumps they did. It is super family friendly with very warm and engaging people of all ages.
There were group games during the breaks, attentive life guards, super impressive divers, many accidental belly floppers, and even a small snack shack that had below average prices. Very peaceful environment without crazy rules. No alcohol and no smoking and basically don't do dumb stuff off the high areas. I appreciated that they do a 'legit' swimming test in order to go off the rocks or high boards. Those that can't ace the test are allowed in the shallow side so they aren't left out.
Even on a hot, sunny summer day it didn't feel too crowded. Pack a picnic and plan to be here all day......
