We stopped there to get my 19 y/o a coffee for her b day yesterday, she loved the greenery and the river outside, so unfortunately we decided to eat “lunch” there today. They have some boxed frozen type of sausage and egg “biscuit” which turned out to be a big mistake it was pink uncooked sausage and my stomach has never hurt so bad. That, believe it or not is NOT the bad part. We brought her brothers this time and my husband and spent 53 bucks. My youngest has some allergies, so we bring him a lumchable and sit outside with the food at like a cheap little table that tilts back and forth on an old deck - but the river view is what we came for anyway, so we are happy UNTIL…an older man (owner I guess) comes out and embarrasses us and says (right in the middle of eating theses dumb little sandwiches and my son mostly done with his lunchable) and announces to us his rules of no outside food. I’m like what? Okay we can pick up half way thru our crappy little lunch - I’m like umm we can leave if you give us a bag to throw this in, but after that I don’t feel like throwing his lunchable away and finding something else to buy for him from this very rude owner. I’m like we just spent over 50 bucks and not even taking up any of your inside seats - sitting at the worst little table we have to balance to keep it standing and you have to come out and make us feel very uncomfortable in front of the other people who wasted their money there today too. He didn’t say a word to us when we were holding the lunchable while ordering and waiting ten min for the food - waiting until the most inconvenient time to say he can’t eat that here when everything is all over the table and half eaten. I don’t know if the guy was greedy and just wanted us to buy extra baked goods to give him instead or something - why in the world he made it his purpose in life to be so rude to new customers- I have no idea. My husbands never ever says anything rude to anyone ever but this time he was ready and I had to tell him it’s not worth it - the guy is obviously his own worst enemy already by displaying the worst customer service in the history of the universe. In all our years of being together and raising kids have we ever had anyone act like that to us when we are smiling, eating and just trying to enjoy a good view of the river. Insane. I would never ever go back again or recommend this place to anyone who respects themselves or even anyone who doesn’t want a belly ache. He said it’s because of state law as not allowing lunchables in restaurants for the safety of other customers. He does have big dogs there and big dog watering bowls on the floor and allows the owners to feed the dogs snacks that could have allergen “safety concerns” to his other customers-...
Read moreDue to not being from the area and always wanting to try new coffee spots My husband and I drove almost an hour to get there. When we got there parking was horrible and dangerous. We decided to try and make it a quick stop. Someone had parked a little weird so we parked as well as we could ( slightly on the no parking zone due to others parking ) and ran inside. The shop itself was cute, much like what one would expect a coffee shop along a trail would look like. The Barista taking our order was absolutely adorable and she was very personable, however the other two employees that were with her looked absolutely miserable and were not friendly whatsoever. As a former barista i have learned and experienced that if everyone working has a smile on their face and at least * TRIES* to be friendly that it goes a very long way. The coffee was over extracted and although I had gotten my drink iced it was still very much warm and hardly any ice. I also had to wait an extra 10 minutes due to ordering a bagel and them not realizing it until they asked me what i was waiting for. Since we had parked oddly my husband was watching in case he had to move our car, not that it was in the way but there was absolutely no other parking space. We sat down for a second because i hadn’t eaten that morning yet and am 5 months pregnant. Unfortunately the second we sat down the owner ( or manager, i am unsure, he was dropping off milk) ran out to check our parking and was clearly annoyed. My husband decided that we should just leave, as we were walking out he apologized and explained the situation to the guy but we were treated very disrespectful as our apology was met with an eye roll and a sneer. My husband helped me to the car and we left as soon as we could, but of course was being watched. Needless to say i will not be back and the coffee and treatment left nothing to be desired. You would assume that at a coffee shop you could have a second and rest but...
Read moreA hidden gem of a coffee shop in a beautiful little town. My experience started at 6:15 this morning, and to be greeted by two happy and awake baristas at that time of the morning was refreshing. Thank you McKenna and Naomi!!! The coffee was great and so was the apple sponge i had. I got to meet the owner as well who offered me a sample of a nitro drink which was very good. Mark was great to talk to and is a very engaging person. Unbeknownst to me, there's also a wine cellar below the coffee shop which I'll be checking out tonight! If you pass through the little town of Peninsula, make sure to stop in! I am DEFINITELY going back. Thank you for the hospitality!!!
Update: I came back in the evening and was NOT disappointed in the wine basement! Had the pleasure of meeting Alayna (not sure of the spelling) who was the bar tender. She was awesome!...and made me a flight of 3 different wines. I am by no means a wine connoisseur, not even close. I might be lucky to have a Guinness once a month but that is about it. It was nice to sip and indulge in a few different wines and have some conversation with strangers. I would absolutely recommend coming to Peninsula Coffee House during the day to get your coffee fix....and coming back in the evening to unwind and release your palate to the tastes that await you. BUT - as a friendly reminder - Don't...
