I don't write reviews, negative or otherwise, so please take this to heart. I scheduled an appointment for March 13, 2021 at 10 am. Not only did I arrive on time, I arrived about 10 minutes early because as per their policy, you could be charged a fee if you were late. With that being said, my appointment time was 10 am and no one was there to let me in at 10 am. Not only that, I soon found out after overhearing a phone conversation between salon workers that the person who was supposed to open the salon at 10 am WAS ASLEEP IN HER CAR while I waited outside the salon (in the cold) for 10 minutes. Additionally, once I was inside, it was close to 10:30 when my hair was washed and closer to 11:15 when my stylist actually arrived to begin my hair. Despite this inexcusable tardiness considering their own late policy, I decided to book again because I was pleased with my hair. I scheduled an appointment for April 17, 2021 shortly after my first appointment. As the date of my appointment arrived, I began experiencing COVID-like symptoms, so I called the day before my appointment to cancel as I didn't want to get anyone sick. I was told that I would be able to rebook my appointment without losing my deposit. After being sick for three weeks and getting a negative COVID test, I called several times to rebook my appointment without getting through to a person. Fast forward to now, I finally get through to someone at the salon only to be told that I was supposed to rebook my appointment within the month of the original appointment and by contacting the stylist directly. And because I didn't didn't, I would lose my deposit and have to rebook and repay the deposit. 1) No one told me when I called to cancel that it had to be within the month of the original appointment or that I had to contact the stylist directly. I was simply told to rebook once I felt well. 2) It was 3 weeks before I felt well enough to be around people, but I couldn't get through to anyone to rebook. I could have been irresponsible and inconsiderate and exposed everyone there to my illness and compromised everyone's immune system, if that's what they preferred, but I didn't because WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. 3) I was told that because my COVID test came back negative, I must have been sick for some other reason which still makes no sense to me. If I'm sick enough to want to cancel an appointment, sick enough to feel like I shouldn't be around people, sick enough to feel I need to take a COVID test --- why would you want me to keep an appointment? Make it make sense please. Also, the deposit was $20. All of this over $20 when had they allowed me to rebook the appointment without hassle, I would have spent $85 plus a generous tip. I even tipped the first stylist who did my hair even though I was left standing outside waiting while someone was asleep in their car. It's the principle of the matter. I expect professionalism and transparency and both were lacking.

I was in low mood and thought to get my hair done to uplift my mood some. I google the closest salon and found Deeper Than Hair. I enjoyed getting my hair done as a walk in on a Saturday. The receptionist was very professional. The atmosphere is very friendly, clean, and professional. I believe stylist Ashley did my hair and she did a wonderful job. I got so many compliments. The sister that shampooed and blow dried my hair was very bubbly and kind. I haven’t been to a salon in 5+ years and Ashley certainly made me want to get my hair done more often. The services were great. She educated me on where the stress was in my hair and gave me information about what to do next with my hair.

This was my second visit to this salon. Overall, this salon is so wholesome and inviting. Its honestly beautiful to be around black women who are bubbly and kind and energetic. I'm an awkward woman, and even I felt comfortable to chat it up with my super friendly stylist, Ashley. My only bugaboo was the appt time. My appt was at 11AM, I arrived early. I left the salon after 3PM. I got a silk press here before, and it took a little over an hour. So that wasn't ideal, to say the least. Everything else was GREAT. This is a great salon, and I will be coming back for a blow out in 3 months.

I came across videos on YouTube and my daughter told me they were close to us. I immediately realized I visited this salon by recommendation some years ago.

After leaving work in Boothwyn, I drove straight there. It took me about an hour. I walked in and stated I have an appointment with __ (don’t remember the name). I wasn’t greeted by anyone. Someone said sign in and have a seat. While sitting along side of the stylist, I’m wondering which one would be mine.

Soon after, I noticed one stylist doing a great job on her clients. Then, I was completely turned off, because she started eating while doing the client’s hair. She was literally stuffing chips in her mouth, wiping it on her smock, then proceeding as if that was common practice. Who wants chip crumbs in their hair. But wait, there’s more......

The chip eating talent turned to me about an hour after I arrived and asked what I was getting done. 👀👀👀 so you’re my stylist? I told her, and she said, well after her (the one she was working on), and pointed to three women sitting next to me, stating you are after them! 👀👀👀😡😡😡. So I waited an hr. and you’re telling me I would have to wait minimally three more hours before getting started? I can take 2 hrs easy with no interruptions! I exclaimed, after working all day and an hr drive........ I would not be able to do it. I asked about next availability and she directed me to the desk. When the young lady said, the typical overbooked black salon’s specialty phrase, “You can try to be the first one here on Saturday”, I knew this salon was NOT for me!

My time is valuable, and I have trouble sitting for long periods. Add that to having tresses beyond my shoulders....... it was a hard no for me.

Seeing the owner on YouTube, made me want to give her a try. Looking up the location gave me second thoughts! Can someone tell me, when this quarantine is all over, would the owner be able to service me honoring an appointment time? I’m a woman of a particular age, and I don’t have time to waste an entire Saturday in a salon - those days are OVER!

Sis appears to be a talented lovely spirit despite my experience. I would definitely love for her...

I placed my large order on the 9th of June. Received confirmation. Order didn’t ship out until the 14th of June. Which I had no problem with believing that they were super busy. I went in on numerous occasions to try to find a tracking number. Never received one, never located one. Started calling the business “Deeper than Hair.”, no one answered. I left voice messages, emails, comments on Facebook and Instagram along with my phone number and never heard a word from them. Mind you, I received all orders from other companies that were placed after this one. I’m starting to worry, did I just lose $350.? I stop worried because I have a good bank. I received a survey, review your order…..I write, “I can’t review what I have yet to received.” The day I call my bank on the 25th I believe. A message that an order is here for me. My order arrived with product leakage, and one item missing. The Jamaican Castor Oil. I’ve called numerous times since then. Reached one young lady, who never took my phone number. She asked for my order number, said “I’ll let her know.” hung up the phone with a quickness. I’m still waiting to hear from somebody. This whole experience is bad and sad. I’ve given “deeper then hair” more than enough chances as a respect and courtesy. Which is way more then I received. I feel like they don’t care or want my business. So I won’t give it to them ever again. I feel that maybe because to them my order is small and they just don’t care. What happened to treating all your customers the same. I’m extremely disappointed. I’ll never order...
