Gifford Playground — Attraction in Philadelphia

This park gets packed but it’s dangerous. It could be a beautiful park but unfortunately no one has kept up with it. The smaller sewer cover near the sprinklers was off when we got to the park. If a small child walked into it, they would’ve went straight into the hole and potentially could drown. The swings are broken. The climbing castles materiel is so frayed the metal is showing which can cut little fingers. Graffiti all over and basketball hoops are very worn down. There was garbage all over the park. That also includes in the water puddles at the sprinklers.

Then when you look over to the public school next door, it looks just as worn down. Concrete a mess, it looks abandon. But it’s not.

I would love to help fix this park. My kids LOVED it! But we won’t be going back till it’s safe....

During the day this playground is not a bad place for kids. It is clean for the most part and the people are friendly. During the evening there is usually older kids which usually keep to themselves but I have witnessed a fight involving at least 10 teenagers on one occasion. The playground also offers after care for grade school children which is convenient...

Very well located, equipped and styled, BUT! Need an enforcement, older kids riding small motorbikes. Trash is everywhere, parents dont mind to lit up a smoke and throw a cigaret butt, next to infants playing. This place need a babysitter for parents. And till then (even while living 100 yards away), I'm driving my child to a better...
