Hair Cuttery — Attraction in Philadelphia

Ive gone to expensive stylists who charge a lot , really good stylists that I’ve found by accident who don’t charge a lot and then there’s the hair cuttery; to me the hair cuttery is a place you go to when you don’t have time for the more expensive salons or the stylist that you go to is booked and you really need a hair cut. I’m a little surprised to see negative reviews for bad cuts when someone is going somewhere special ,for me , if I were going somewhere really special or doing something extraordinary I wouldn’t go to a hair cuttery to get my hair cut, unless your stylist happens to work at a HC I’m not trying to put it down at all , it’s just that it’s a chain store, its where stylists go to get experience , ( or maybe they really like it there and stay it’s just most really good stylists seem to branch out) that being said, in this particular hair cuttery I’ve had some of the best hair cuts I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve never had a problem with a hair cut here, that’s why I continue to go to this location; when I need a quick wash and cut and by quick sometimes I’ve had to wait a while but it’s better than calling a salon and being told I have to wait a really long time when my hair is driving me crazy THAT day. Only one time I had a small issue ; there was a sale, buy one get one 50 percent off and I wasn’t paying attention until I got home, looked at my receipt and realized the woman at the desk didn’t give me the discount. I drove back over and I’m not sure if it was the manager but she gave me basically the one item for free and it had to be about 20.00. That to me is excellent customer service. If you need a quick cut I wouldn’t hesitate to go here. If your going somewhere really special and don’t know the people I would be more hesitant. But for me, this place is inexpensive, the people are always very nice, and I’ve never had a cut that was completely unacceptable. I went in today to get a haircut. I was set up with Crystal. She was very nice, but my goodness, this is one of the worst hair cuts I have ever received. I myself, am also a stylist, and unfortunately I can't cut my own hair as well as I'd like to, so I clearly explained what I wanted to Crystal, and showed her an image. I requested a 4,3,2 taper around the sides and long on top with about 3/4 to an inch removed. I did not think this would be a challenging task... unfortunately I either did not explain clearly enough, or Crystal did not have the confidence/skills to ask for further instruction. My hair was varying different lengths on top, multiple points everywhere. The bangs on the one side of my face were an inch shorter then the other side. And my 4,3,2 was 2 all over. I did not notice how horrible the cut had turned out at first because I am a glasses wearer and did not see her using the clippers at the time she had me turned from the mirror anyway. By the time I realized, it was too late. And when I started to look she told me that "the hair did not appear blended due to my hair being two different colors" Absolutely unacceptable. I contacted the store after and they did tell me I could go in to get it fixed, but at that point I felt more confident I could just fix it myself. I had to take off at least another inch in varying spots all over the top of my head to even out the horrible cut. All I can ask is that you please train your stylists better. Scheduled an appointment for a simple updo for a formal event and it came out terribly. I originally booked for earlier in the day and was asked to come in later so a stylist who was familiar with updos could do it for me. I knew I was cutting it close to the event time but figured they could get it done in time since it was a very simple style. My appointment didn't start till 20mins past my appointment time and as I was about to get up and leave she called me back. She quickly curled my hair which looked great then she quickly threw in like 12 Bobby pins and called it a day. The whole bun was laying on my neck it was so loose. But I had to go since I was already cutting it close to the event time and i figured if she thought what she did looked good she wasnt gonna make it any better. By the time I got to the party the whole thing came out. $40 for nothing. I'll go for my cut and colors but never for a special event. Lesson learned. Does this style look...
