I was at this hospital from 2:30pm on 03/04/2025 to 4am the next morning as a guest. It was a mixed bag with much hopelessness. Upon arrival, people were there from 9am and they were disgruntled due to the long wait. There was an ominous atmosphere of misery.
Some patients with wheelchairs were elderly and asleep. The seats were decrepit, smelly and peeling. Roll call was ineffective-- calling people’s name out many times is discouraging especially since many left due to the long wait. Some people waited a while to get vitals checked which was concerning. The mobile vital machines should’ve been done on everyone upon their arrival. People sleeping should be checked on hourly since they missed their names. Staff wasn't proactive to prevent this.
Due to my complaints and my pushiness when talking to a wonderful overnight technologist, my mother was eventually called in for an Xray and after her second set of vitals were abnormal. The patient access staff member was very encouraging, nurturing and overall, the staff was the only reason we stayed to get called at 10:30pm for the Xray.
However, I thought we were going to see a doctor after the Xray but no. We had to wait an additional 2.5 hours to see a doctor that turned into two doctors to get the X-rays read to which they decided to do a CT scan. My mother was seen in the hallway in the back room because she couldn’t get a room since they were filled to capacity allegedly. I did see some empty hospital beds when we were taken to the back so it’s unclear why wait room patients couldn’t atleast be called to stay in the hallway to be observed.
There was an elderly lady that needed an in-hospital service that was seen after almost 16 hours that was wheelchair bound. That should be illegal.
Apparently, the CEO and a doctor who was supposed to be monitoring wait room patients were present. The CEO had security around him and not once did they both address why nearly 30 people were sitting in the wait room.
It was a hard week which many hospitals like Temple and Penn having exceedingly long wait times and I was told hospitals were diverted. The upper-level staff should've also been giving out explanations. Ordering lower-level staff to say we’re doing the best we can isn’t encouraging.
Also, on the bed before they wiped it down and changed the sheet, I noticed a bloody tissue. That was unprofessional.
There seemed to be a lot of residents and training doctors around. It's unclear if staff shortage was an issue that was being omitted.
The discharge paperwork was thorough, and they took time to teach my mother how to use her cane, made sure she was comfortable in her bed and lifted her on it.
We need a better roll call system where your phone lights up when it’s your turn on the emergency roster or so.
Upper management and leadership need to explain the logic better on who gets seen first. Marking people off a list if they attest, they are present isn’t the way. Also, I don’t understand why the same person is repeatedly called. I imagine they leave to get food so why can’t they be called to come back in or to ensure they come back in general.
I guess atleast they had wheelchairs. Someone said some of my complaints will go to the VP.
I would think If someone had an ER visit the week before for a similar issue, they would be prioritized such as was our case. Especially if they get other services through Einstein.
I will say as a positive I didn’t feel rushed or snubbed. The supervising doctor, resident doctor, technologist, RN and patient rep seemed to love what they do. They were relatable and warm, and they went above and beyond.
It’s shameful that if I didn’t complain and inquire during our 14 hours stay, we’d still be sitting there with the rest of the people in the wait room. We need more transparency, problem solving, visibility, and accountability from upper management and leadership. Essentially, we...

This is an email of great concern more than beyond a complaint. In today's time with so much hate, lack of care, no empathy for others and aggressiveness at all levels from everyone and everywhere, to include this City of Philadelphia as well as all over the nation, I have to share my experiences here at the hospital 7/16/23 to the present with the "admissions process" just getting past the front reception desk is frustrating.
My daughter had to received a jejunostomy (jtube) procedure, which was the hardest decision to make of our lives. So my visiting hours coming to be by her side as a parent/legal guardian are 9am to 9pm here.
The Admissions clerks, need extensive training on how to greet the patient visiting families entering the hospital and gathering their personal information and be able to identify patients of love ones who are in serious condition. Maybe a color code system so the level of care is known.. There should be two (2) employees at the desk, especially in the morning although, I realize people just don't care to work anymore and positions are hard to fill.
Just come in and observe...Conduct an undercover as a visitor pop up and you will witness a lot.
The clerks come to the working station loud and with attitude "it is not what you say, it is how you say it", often place the security team at risk everyday on the front line as I witness and will now video record what I go through after today and share it, as well as their lives at risk because they do not know how to greet the visitors. The female employees look like the haven't mastered the check in computer system, but when the men especially the older employees work the desk you can see the difference in the process. It is more pleasant, badge is given and your off to see your sick or recovering loved one.
How the clerks speak "at" you is horrible, especially GOD forbid if you question about the process....AND the step back by the don't cross the sign marker changes everyday - some can and some can...The name badges did recently get a little better in terms the patient not loosing them. Supplies maybe hard to come by.. We now get a clip with our badge.....I have been in and out of here with my spastic quadriplegic daughter with physiological, neurological and digestive health problems since 7/16/23 to the present and the behavior I have endored from the clerks is sad.
Earlier this week...I should not be made to feel like a child, spoken to "shouting step back please" abruptly at 9:06 am in the morning and again made to feel that I can't comprehend that I should step back in a line that I am just getting a pass to go see my sick or recovering family member. Especially to have a security guard approach me after being harrassed for being the only person there in line, the next in line and clearly at a distance when the visiting person before had her pass, but had additional questions for the clerk....To add with two clerks visual at the desks, but only one working to process the first group of visitors coming in. The one who wasn't working was the person shouting step back...I had said please not today...I have to see my daughter... I didn't know whether to hold my hands up high or just hit the ground when the security guard approached me.
Again, yhe security guard team are very polite and professional and try to keep the peace as mush...
Read moreNo option for ZERO STARS..... This place is by far the worst medical facility i have ever encountered in my 48 years on this earth. The doctors in the OB/GYN starting with the Chief of the department, Dr. Jaspan has absolutely no bedside manners at all!!! He is disrespectful, arrogant, non sympathetic, uses poor communication strategies, lacks humility, also speaks down and degrading to patients. The Attending and Residents that all follow beneath him, well... let me just say the apple don't fall far from the tree. With that said let me elaborate on some of the encountered experiences: because my daughter, one whom has had multiple c sections, wanted to try and deliver vaginally this time, was ridiculed by 90% of the doctors she encountered. Was told by Dr. Jaspan at one point that he felt he was watching her and her baby die, and that her baby was gonna have brain damage. She labored at home for 36hrs until her water broke. upon her arrival to hospital, immediately the want to perform a c section , not for any reason other than she previously delivered via c section. She refused as that is her right and there were no immediate risks . She was well aware of the risks involved. She researched and studied every aspect of the choice she was making and understood the risks that were involved. Dr.Jaspan insisted that she was mental and continuously tried to force her to speak with a psych doctor before, during and after the baby was delivered, even down to the time she was being discharged. His staff did not ensure that she was appropriately cared for after delivery. there were constant issues with standard postpartum care protocol, pain management issues, lack of communication issues between nurses and doctors on all levels of care. She even had one nurse refuse to give her 3 tylenols which was ordered by the doctor. In her words (nurse Natasha) " I have the right as a nurse to question any medication order that I deem necessary!" Really??? tylenol though.... and she didn't give it to her until she spoke to the doctor and was authorized to proceed with the order. Another nurse, (nurse Athena) every time we spoke to her, her response would be "I think this or I think that, but I'm not sure let me check. But , you just said the doctors order was ????? now u think??? such incompetence....I could go on and on cause this was just a tad bit of nightmare we endured for the 3 days she was there. At the end of the day, she gave birth to beautiful and healthy baby boy. He was delivered c-section when she could no longer endure the pain from the contractions at 5 cm, since she was under no pain management at the time. They made a mockery of my daughter and intentionally made her suffer until she couldn't take it anymore and submitted to the c-section. The Low down "BASTARDS!!!" that they are, May "GOD BE WITH...
