Visited the Philadelphia Zoo on Mother's Day to meet the 4 miracle hatchling Galapagos Tortoises born in late Feb-early March 2025. If you look closely, you can see that each hatchling shell has a different color paint dot on it. This is one way the staff can keep separate tabs on them. The hatchlings are inside the reptile house now for their health and safety. There was a steady stream of visitors coming by to say hi to the baby tortoises. Their parents, Mommy and Abbrazzo, are about 100 years old, and Mommy is a first-time mother.

Such a great part of the zoo! Featuring snakes, frogs, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and more, this is a fun exhibit for everyone, kids and adults alike! You have to leave any strollers or wagons outside and walk down some steps to get to the exhibit and the exhibit has two entrances so remember which entrance you came in from because you might end up on the other side. Another note is that it does get crowded so be mindful of others and wear a mask if you like.

So many interesting animals that I have never seen before! They are well kept in beautifully kept enclosures that are made to mimic their natural environment. Many signs around the enclosures tell you what you are looking at and give interesting facts and details about these amazing creatures.

Venture into the shadowy realm of the Reptile and Amphibian House at the Philadelphia Zoo, if you dare! This spine-tingling sanctuary is home to some of the most fascinating and fearsome creatures on Earth. From the venomous beauty of poison dart frogs to the ancient might of Galapagos tortoises, each step takes you deeper into a world of scales and secrets. Gaze into the eyes of a Nile crocodile and feel the primal thrill of nature’s most enigmatic survivors. It’s a place where every slither and hiss tells a story of survival, and every visit is an unforgettable encounter with the wild side of...
