My son received an academic award here at just one of the beautiful landmarks that the City of Philadelphia has to offer. This building is simply exquisite. It's huge with one immense hallway when you walk in, that starts at the front door and goes on forever. They have the most expensive furniture here for guests to rest very comfortably but carefully on because its so large, you might need to take a break. Every so many feet is like a new inviting living room and art work that I could just stare at for hours. I took more pictures of this building than I did of my son..lol. He was getting angry at the amount of pictures I took. I kept saying, I promise this is the last one, and then I'd see another beautiful location he would have to stand in for yet another stunning picture. The award ceremony was beautiful, keynote speaker was an amazing person, who literally struck at the heart of every single person in the room, giving our young graduates a bit of wisdom with a story every one of them may and probably will encounter and taught everyone a lesson of having the ability to overcome the past mistakes that we think will be the end of our lives, but turns out to be a new beginning, it just had to be very hard and ugly before it gets beautiful and you realize how lucky we all are to experience life on our terms first, but then on life's terms next. Wonderful night spent with my son and my sister. Do not dress casually if you will be attending an event in this building. I mean you don't have to wear a tuxedo, but put your best suit on and the most appropriate clothing you own...
Read moreCame here for a rehearsal dinner for a family wedding. My family rented upstairs hall for 2 hours open bar and hors deurves. Then after that was over we went downstairs to the cafe to grab a few more drinks as it was only 8pm. As I walked into the 1st floor bar, I was interrupted by the female manager and asked if I was planning on buying a drink. I said yes. And then the manager was firm that I could not buy a drink there unless I had a room at the hotel which sounded very strange to me. They were happy to take my family's money for the private room upstairs ($100 per person)... but as soon as we were separated from the rest of the party, all the sudden we were singled out and weren't good enough to order a drink at their sub par cafe. It was clear they only wanted the light skinned patrons to be apart of their establishment. I hope that people of color and minorities will think twice about coming here or supporting this P.O.S. establishment. I hope the minority and immigrant employees will have self respect and think twice about who they are really working for. Very classless, distasteful and outright...
Read moreCafe Meredith is located inside Union League of Philadelphia which was founded in 1862 as a patriotic society to support the Union and the policies of President Abraham Lincoln. Union League was voted as a top city club in the nation multiple times. I have passed through this building multiple times and never realized the hidden gem inside.
What can I say, the building is amazing backed by over 150 hours of history. The restaurant was crowded and I just ended up eating at the bar. Note that the prices will not be listed in the menu.
I ordered seabass in curry, this was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The seabass was juicy in the inside with a crispy skin. The rice was made in a cake and almost fooled me for a crab cake patty. Make sure you have a blazer to go get a meal inside or you will not be allowed.
It does say members only but I was booked in the inn and was able to get in. Most of the people there were on dates and few members socializing or conducting their business. The place is simply...
