My husband and I visited Stephen Starr’s newest Rittenhouse spot, Borromini, for date night. Reservations are tough, but the bar is first-come, first-serve. After about a 25–30 minute wait, I snagged a seat while my husband didn’t mind standing. We started with an orange wine and a martini—both refreshing and a great start to the night.

I had already explored the menu and was excited for the food journey. We ordered the clam pizzetta and shrimp scampi to start. Our server accidentally put in squash blossoms, but we happily enjoyed them complimentary. The antipasti dishes were flavorful and well-executed.

For mains, we ordered the Carbonara (one of my favorite dishes) and the fisherman’s pasta in red sauce. The fisherman’s pasta was light and pleasant, but unfortunately, the Carbonara was extremely salty—not just from the pancetta. I couldn’t finish it and shared my feedback with our server, Steve, who was phenomenal to watch behind the bar. He truly shined ✨ and made the evening feel special. The maître d’ overheard, apologized immediately, and offered to replace the dish. I tried the spaghetti al limone, which Steve had also recommended earlier. While the presentation was beautiful, it too leaned salty for my palate.

We closed the night with tiramisu (described as “heaven on a plate,” which it absolutely was) and an espresso martini with a gorgeous rich color. Both were excellent and a sweet way to end the evening.

I fully understand the challenges of opening weeks—delays, busy service, and high demand—but I didn’t expect plating issues with salt levels, not once but twice. That said, the service and hospitality were outstanding, and I’d gladly return to try the Pomodoro Martini (made with tomato gin), which nearby guests described as sweet and intriguing.

Borromini has a beautiful ambiance, great drinks, and excellent staff—I just hope the kitchen balances seasoning as...

Rittenhouse Square, nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, is not only a picturesque urban oasis but also a testament to the city's rich history. During my recent visit, I was captivated by the park's natural beauty, vibrant atmosphere, and the historical significance that adds an extra layer of charm to this iconic destination.

One of the it's most remarkable aspects is its storied past. Named after David Rittenhouse, a renowned astronomer and Philadelphia native, the park has witnessed significant historical events over the years. It was one of the original five squares laid out by William Penn in his plan for the city, making it an integral part of Philadelphia's heritage.

Walking through the park, I couldn't help but appreciate the preservation of its historical features. The original layout, with walkways radiating from the central plaza, provides a glimpse into the park's early design. The wrought-iron fencing, dating back to the late 1800s, speaks to the craftsmanship of a bygone era.

Surrounded by architectural gems and a bustling neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square seamlessly blends the old and the new. The nearby historic brownstones and contemporary high-rises create a captivating contrast, showcasing the city's evolution while maintaining a sense of harmony with the...
