My wife and I attended their 5:30 show last night as an early evening Valentine's Day gift to ourselves. We were greeted promptly when we arrived and when the theater opened we were shown to our seats up front row seats 11 & 12. The set's presentation was lavish and beautiful. A myriad of details hung before us, each making us wonder how and when they would be incorporated into the show.
The show started on time and the magic show began. But calling it simply a magic show doesn't do it enough justice. Yes there were displays of close up magic, some tried chestnuts, many new to me; but there were two other components at play last night.
There was the pure showmanship of the pair, a few times they compared themselves to PT Barnum, but I think that does them a disservice. There's was an act of both magic and theater, a work of art well honed through their 800+ shows, but never appearing tired.
Thirdly there was the charismatic way that the two of them worked with each other, supported each other's individual displays, and the ease with which they worked the crowd to involve them in the very acts of the show.
The whole thing came together to become something far greater than the sum of each of their parts. I can not urge you hard enough to go see them. It is truly a worthy experience, especially for any who are fans of magic, vaudeville, carnivals, and a genuinely solid...
Read moreThe show is fabulous! I highly recommend it! We are trying to get to the next show in Mesa to take my grandmother, as she would love it! The presentation is a welcome change to the norm of entertainment in this age! It even thrilled -and challenged- our 15 year old son who is interested in little except sports and movies that involve blowing things up! Each of us had a favorite illusion that we pondered and tried to decipher over dinner after the show. I loved how engaging and interactive the show is with the audience. Laughing and smiling gives a welcome boost to any day! It’s variety of talents and topics flowed and it had my continual interest of “what next?, what could possibly top that?” Among the many times I said, “unbelievable”, the greatest disbelief was how fast 80 minutes passed. Roland and Susan are amazing and rare entertainers. I have seen David Copperfield and several other magicians/illusionists on stage and their big techno stunts are impressive, but to me they appear to be more technology than the true art of magic and illusion. Super unique...
Read moreI Love illusion. We have seen some of the great masters in the past year. I didn't know what to expect. This show mixed some fantastic illusion, cabaret, and intimate interaction between Roland, Susan, and the audience. Everyone was included in the fun and intimate detail. It takes place in Tucson in the parlor room of the 200 year old Scottish Rites building. The atmosphere lends to the "ooh-la-la" fun that one is about to take part in. I highly recommend this show to anyone who wants to enjoy themselves. I was onstage for one of the "old time standard" magic show, holding straps attached to Susan. So as not to ruin your fun, I will not go any further other than to say I was wowed! Also, the wonderful people who are the silent partners, behind the scene are beyond fabulous. My hop-a-long Sharon had broke her ankle the night we were originally were going to see them. The accommodation, customer service, and love shown by everyone was beyond spectacular. One more time, I can not say it enough. ...
