Blue Slide Playground in Squirrel Hill is an absolute treasure for families, nature enthusiasts, and fans of the late Mac Miller. The iconic blue concrete slide is a nostalgic delight—bring a piece of cardboard for an exhilarating ride down the hill! It’s a unique feature that sets this park apart and brings joy to visitors of all ages.
Beyond the slide, the playground boasts multiple playsets suitable for toddlers and older children, climbing walls, swings, and even a rope climbing structure. The park is well-maintained, with ample shaded areas and benches, making it perfect for picnics or relaxing while the kids play. For those looking to stay active, there are basketball and pickleball courts, as well as outdoor fitness equipment along the Riverview Trail—a scenic 1.35-mile path ideal for walking or jogging.
One of the most touching aspects of Blue Slide Park is its connection to Mac Miller. Fans often visit to pay homage, and his presence is felt throughout the area. It’s a place where community, music, and childhood memories intertwine beautifully.
Parking is available on the street, and while there are porta-potties near the hiking trail, it’s advisable to plan accordingly. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Pittsburgh, Blue Slide Playground is a must-visit spot that offers fun, reflection, and a sense...
Read moreWe go to Blue Slide Park (in Frick Park) all the time. My granddaughters love it. It is crowded sometimes and my older granddaughter was bullied once by kids who seemed unsupervised (She was 3 at the time) but generally the kids are reasonably under some supervision. Covered picnic tables are nice. Bathroom is just a Jonny on the Spot type. And not very close to the playground. It's a beautiful setting with trails for when you're tired of the playground. The well-used dog off-leash area nearby means you will see a lot of dog walkers which my little ones love, but a child who doesn't like...
Read moreIf you’re arriving earlier in the day, don’t forget to bring your cardboard to ride down the concrete blue slide. If you’re coming later in the day, there will be plenty scattered near by. The concrete slide and the large incline is definitely a dangerous area for kids to run around without being safe or even maybe a helmet, so I would keep watch of them when they’re near that area. As the for the rest of the park it was definitely one of the prettiest and newest looking park I’ve seen. Lots of activities for kids and even walking trails around good for all ages.
As fans of Mac Miller, this was one of our bucket list things, and it did not disappoint. The slide was very fun to go down, and had lots of things graved in. Love...
