In a residential area at the top of a steep and windy hill. Plenty of parking on a weekday morning. I went the way towards Mt. Washington and waterfront. Fairly easy hiking, took about 30 mins to emerge out to the road and overlooks. Safe hiking, there was some muddy areas.

Emerald lookout trail is closed for heavy repairs. That's the riverside-facing trail. 🙁 Just drive to Skookum Field further up the hill and park.

This is my favorite hike in Pittsburgh because you get sneak peaks of the phenomenal view along the way, and then all of the sudden BAM - HELLO DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH. The hike itself is relatively easy (no need for fancy shoes or hiking poles), but not good for baby strollers. This is a nice loop trail. It is shorter and has decent elevation gain for the length. Some parts are pretty overgrown. There also appears to have been a recent mudslide.
