If I could rate zero stars I would. My first stay there is what's worth the 1 start because it was great. This second trip, horrendous. Upon arrival when checking in the Internet was down. Not the woman we were working withs fault. She was kind and doing everything she could to get us into our room. It took over 30 minutes to get our keys. Again not her fault. We paid and I got the confirmation from Capital One, hence why she gave us the keys she just wasn't able to print confirmation, no biggie. We head to the elevators, one was broken, the other was squeaking loudly and the floor of it was covered in broken pretzel pieces and food. We got to the room and though it looked clean the floor caused horrible irritation when our shoes were off. The entire stay was like playing the ground is lava to dart from the bed to the bathroom to no avail as the itching was instant and constant with any contact with the carpet. There didn't appear to be bugs or dirt that we could see with our cell phone lights. Dinner at both the Italian restaurant and Ruth Chris were amazing as was lunch at Johnny rockets but the hotel itself was terrible. There were people smoking in the non smoking section of the casino walking right past staff who did and said nothing. The elevator was dirty both nights of the stay with everyone we came in contact with commenting on how bad the place was becoming from lack of upkeep and care. But the worst part aside from coming home with raging athletes foot from the floor was check out. The person checking us out was different than who checked us in but was also there when the Internet was down and said she wasn't comfortable taking my card again as I showed the confirmation on my bank account from Capital One so she went and got the manager. She was rude, dismissive and had a response for everything before letting myself or my husband finish our sentence. She said that when you check in that's a hold and when you leave you have to swipe the card again because the first payment will fall off and they can't confirm that the first nights card swipe actually worked. It could be confirmed because I showed the first woman hence why she didn't feel comfortable swiping my card again, two this was my second time staying here. The first time I swiped once when I arrived and that was it. The full payment didn't "fall off" the security deposit did. She insisted that the first payment would fall off, it didn't I had to get it rectified through capital one. We also told her about the room and the floor and she dismissed it and asked if we spilled something on the floor that caused it. We told her no and that we didn't have the issue the month before when we were here but something is wrong and should be looked at. She didn't respond and just stood there. My husband was still talking when she printed the receipt put it on the counter and turned to walk away. I don't know what her problem was, why she had an attitude from the moment the other girl went and got her or why the floor concern was ignored or why she wasn't listening about the payment and had us swipe again without listening but she shouldn't be in charge of anything if she can't be in charge of her own attitude. That was our second stay in less than 30 days as we love sorry trips and to spend money so you'd think that she'd actually listen since people's patronage is why she has a job. Horrible experience, horrible service and we left with...
Read moreWe've stayed at the hotel twice and both times service was lacking. We called and received an early check in and arrived around 1:00. We unloaded our luggage onto the sidewalk. There were no bellmen to be seen and you aren't allowed to use the luggage carts. I stayed with the luggage and my husband went to check in.
He came back 5-10 minutes later not happy. He wasn't allowed to check in because the room was in my name -- even though our credit card numbers were the same. We've never had issues with this in the past, but I understand their policy.
So...I went in to check in. Only one person was working. And two people were in front of me. I waited...and waited...and waited...the person we later figured was the manager came out and immediately went to the back. I finally got up to the counter and made sure I was very friendly to the person working -- the circumstances are not their fault. I checked in and asked about getting a bellman (the bellman/concierge desk was unmanned) and she said she would send one out.
So I went out with my husband and our luggage. And waited...waited some more...and waited more. I decided to take the first load of luggage up to the room, hoping the bellman was going to come to help us with the rest. Of course, that didn't happen. I came back down and my husband and I hauled the rest of our things up to the room.
My husband did speak to the manager on duty expressing his displeasure with the whole situation, but of course they didn't care. It took us well over an hour to check in and get up to our room -- which is totally unacceptable.
Check out was more of the same. We waited 30+ minutes for a bellman (but at least they came!). There was another huge line for check out. We were told we were going to have to have our valet ticket validated, but after our car was loaded my husband came in and told me he had our keys. Once I knew that, I just dumped the hotel keys and valet ticket on the counter and got out of there.
The room itself is fine, but they are by no means sound-proof. We had a ton on noise from the hallway, but we survived. I dislike not have a refrigerator in the room, so if you expect to keep things (like leftovers) cold, you'll have to make other arrangements.
We ate at Rustic Kitchen and this was a nice experience (we've eaten there twice before). This is a nice choice for dinner. The food court is basically empty, so there are not a lot of choices for something quick to eat.
If you play video poker and know enough to care about payouts, this is NOT the casino for you. The payouts are horrible (6/5 on 0.25 and 0.50 Double Double machines; 7/5 on $1 Double Double). There are a lot of slot machines, but it is very difficult to figure out where the smoking section ends and the non-smoking begins. Other casinos I've visited in PA have signs on each machine to help guide you. Overall, though, it was very smokey and made me miss the casinos in NY.
Would we stay here again? Under normal circumstances, no. The service at the hotel is below average and the lack of refrigerators in the room is not the best when we are travelling (we have medications that should be refrigerated). This was not our first choice for this weekend, but because of it was relatively last-minute and all of the other hotels were booked, we ended up here and paid over $400/night for sub-par service. It's a shame, because with a little effort from management this could be...
Read moreI gave mohegan pa a few tries. I was disappointed every time.
First one was my nephew's 21st birthday. For a weekday the table games minimum bets were higher at mohegan than every other casino has on the weekends. The restaurants werent busy but we walked away after 15 minutes waiting to be greeted. Unfortunately most of our group got rooms and had to stay the night.
Several years later we went again. This was about a month ago. We were on our way home and were going past mohegan and we talked about horse racing and decided to see what that would be like. It was later with only a couple of races left, we didn't think that would be fun and went into the casino.
This time we saw the table games had lower minimum bets and looked around to see what to play. We found flush poker which we only saw at another casino. So we sat down and played. We had some fun and with no luck on our side we got up and wanted to play slots.
They have a lot of the newest games which is good. But the player cards we had were not working in all the slots. We stayed for a little bit longer, had some more fun and went home.
We talked about mohegan and we wanted to go back. Today was that day we would go back to mohegan. They have an octoberfest party in september with weenie dog races and we went to go see that. The 2 weenie dog races were fun, and there was no betting, which to me was a good thing.
After the first race we went into the casino and play some slots. The slots had problems reading our player cards. After trying 3 games to see if my card worked i gave up on the card. I went to a slot i wanted to try. Tried my card again it didnt work but i put money into the game. I got a bonus and got a nice win. I cashed out and went to another slot i wanted to try. Didn't get a hit and left that game to go play flush poker.
I got dealt in and the 3 of us at the table were getting bad cards or the lowest scoring hand players can get. The dealer got great hands every single time. I know im gambling but losing wasnt making me so mad, it was the dealer. I only heard her voice when she called to verify my cash to chips. Not a hello or anything was said.
I decided to walk away from the tables and go back to the slots. I went to a slot i had not seen before and went right to it. I inserted my player card and the machine couldnt read it. I decided i wanted a snack and went to go find one. No luck there. I saw 3 pa lottery machines and decided to get a couple of scratchoffs. None of these lottery machines could read the money i had. I gave it up, found my family. We watched the lasr weenie race and went home.
This was the last chance i will give mohegan. I understand losing, im gambling. But when dealera dont greet you when you get to their table and they dont talk it takes away from my experience. And the players card dont work in any of the slots, why go? My card was read by the machines to check if i earned anything.
I wasted a lot of time at mohegan. Luckily another casino we normally go to, has player cards that work and friendly dealers.
Not worth...
