This was our first time here and for the Easter event. I had purchased the Easter egg hunt for my 2 kids in their age group. The information said each child would get 12 eggs. My daughter is 2yo and walked away with zero eggs. The adults were running and there were much bigger kids with full buckets to the top. We saw some kids even had two full buckets of eggs. There was no enforcing not to run and they should have enforced people use the egg cartons so they would only walk away with 12 eggs. We saw this happen at 3 events that we were there for including people participating at every single one since no one was checking tickets. My husband pulled my older kid when she got 12 eggs and she decided to share half her eggs with her little sister— my husband didn’t want other kids to feel like my 2yo who walked away with her head down and sad.
We then tried to do the golden egg hunt. We had to ask a random worker how to participate since we saw people with yellow cards but we weren’t given any. Then we couldn’t figure out how to get them all marked off. I saw other parents just as confused that started marking them off themselves.
Overall, the grounds are nice and so was everyone working. It just really needs some better enforcement at this event. The Easter event wasn’t worth the money for the experience but I do hope it all goes back into the farm. We will just have to try coming back for their different programs to...
Read moreLocated in Plano, the Heritage Farmstead is a treasure in the heart of the Texas Blackland Prairie. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. To understand all that the Farmstead has to offer, I suggest visiting the website. I have visited the Farmstead many times over the years but not to visit the museum. I have visited to attend events. According to the website, the 4.5 acre site is the perfect setting for parties, civic events, and corporate events. I highly recommend renting the Pole Barn. Check out the tumbleweed chandelier hanging from the rafters. I have visited during the holidays for Lights on the Farm and highly recommend it. The lights get better every year. Santa is usually there, along with hot cocoa and s’mores. Adults and children will equally enjoy a visit to the Farmstead, whether for an event or to visit the museum. There are lots of farm animals, wagon rides, and a lovely gift shop. In November 2024, the Heritage Farmstead Museum received the Community Partner of the Year award from the Plano Chamber of Commerce in recognition of 50 years of service and preserving the history of Plano. Highly...
Read moreHad a great time with the family here. They had decorated for Christmas and have done a truly wonderful job with the lights and having syned to the music in various areas! Come see the lights with your family, make scores, take photos and make memories!!! There are souvenirs for purchase and some food items. It was not very crowded at yhe time but it could get that way real quick. Parking was next door at a store called BT furnishings. Parking was free but there is a cover charge to go inside the Museum. There were animals there as well so the farm aspect was still there, pigs, chickens, etc. There are bathrooms and a gift shop that had other souvenirs as well. We spent about an hour here. The place is not really that big, so if your drive is a little more than a half hour or so there might be better venues that are more economical for the time spent for my family as we live not far away...
