This is a really nice park, and the intention was good, however the kiddie water pool is so close to the other playgrounds that kids just run and hop wet from the pool to them, the slides and everything else and get them wet, so other kids that are not using the pool have to content with using a wet playground, kinda also a safety issue with slips that could happen with the wet and slippery plastic.
And there's no one there to tell them not to do it or even enforce any of the rules. One of the several rules at the entrance states that children must wear nonslip shoes at the water park however there were many kids barefooted and parents kinda let them loose without much a say about it.
All in all it's a nice park but, better enjoyed if you are bringing your child to have fun at the water park. It's large enough to fit many kids and shallow enough that I saw 2 year olds in it with no problem. Also maybe bring your child on a weekday, the weekend we went was really packed, they have two barbecue spots with benches and those were even taken fo two...
Read moreI took my newborn, my 2 year old and my 6 year old to this playground and we had such a nice time!! We entered and saw a community center building so we ran in and saw different flyers for different activities and events that the town had going on and coming up which was great because we are new to the area! The park had multiple options for different aged children which was great because mine are such different age gaps and not all playground work well for us! It was VERY hot so the splash pad was great even for my 2YO who is very afraid of water most of the time! He actually played in the splash pads! The restroom was very clean and close by. I loved that there were different seating options and multiple trees to provide shade because of my newborn!! We wouldn’t have been able to stay otherwise but the shade was great and he took a nap on the blanket on the grass under the tree! We ate snacks on our blanket in the shade also but they do provide tables in a pavilion as well! We had a nice time and will definitely...
Read moreI love Uphill Nature Reserve but this review is for Uphill's Plantation Wood (next to the bluebell field) as it doesn't appear to have a separate rating. We walked through this for the first - and last! - time on Bank Holiday Monday as my partner thought it would be a shortcut to the Wharfside Cafe. We walked for ages and my trousers and legs were badly torn on the bramble bushes and my ankles were irritated by masses of ground level ivy. We kept trying to find a way out but there's a ditch which prevents walkers from reaching the adjoining field. This wood is run by the Woodland Trust but, as you go further into it, the path is very overgrown and you have to clamber over the occasional dead tree. I'm in my mid fifties and reasonably fit but I think a pensioner walking a dog would struggle with this terrain. Eventually we had to retrace our steps in order to leave the plantation and went to the cafe to wipe the blood...
