I found out about URB Bridal at one of the Pittsburgh wedding expos last year. Initially, my fiancé and I went just because we knew our eventual goal was marriage, and we wanted to check out ideas and inspiration. I never dreamed that I would find a lead for my gown so fast. I’ve been wanting to have a red wedding dress since I was a young teen. (Blame Lydia Deetz, lol!) I’ve admired many a beautiful bridal gown, but a red dress is an elusive thing in the wedding category.

Well, in comes URB Bridal.

I am all about inclusivity and customization, and this hidden gem of a bridal salon offers both. I am not a petite woman, and the first point is that they can fit all body types. But what really got me was that I could order a gown CUSTOM to my needs/taste. Including my holy grail of a red gown.

So, years before I intended to get married to my now fiancé, I decided why not? This shop was offering a hell of a discount through the wedding expo, and I figured ‘seize the day’. So I booked my appointment, and went in to see what my options would wind up being. I worked with Rachel, who fitted me with several beautiful dresses, a few of which were in black/had black detailing (If I couldn’t get the red gown of my dreams, I would not mind being a bride in black!). Not only was Rachel sweet and supportive, but she selected several dresses, each more beautiful than the last. I already had a couple of solid options when she finally showed me this strapless, corseted ballgown with layered tulle, and a Victorian style lace overlay.

Initially, I saw the dress in champagne and it didn’t strike me. But when she said she had it in black, then I was intrigued. It was STUNNING. Black lace over white, and an absolutely spectacular fit for my shape and body type. Then we discussed color options. I was able to order the red gown of my wildest dreams! Fully customized to my taste, including adding a train and sleeve options. Let me tell you– A red wedding dress is not as easy to find as you might think. Most mainstream bridal shops do not have anything in even a whiff of red. And even though non-white gowns are becoming more popular, a stark red gown is still an elusive thing. There is barely a market, even, online. This shop comes through for all the quirky, underrepresented brides like me.

Not only did I get an excellent deal from the bridal expo, But I was able to pay the dress off in installments over the last year. Today, I was able to pick up the finished gown! It is beyond my wildest dreams. I felt like the vampire bride that I was always meant to be, and that is due to the fantastic ladies of URB Bridal.

They were just as excited as I was to see this gown! Cannot recommend this shop enough. Will likely go back to them for my alterations when it comes time. I still have about 15 months. ❤️

I went to many dress shops and easily tried on between 50-75 wedding dresses. Out of the 12 dress shops I visited on the hunt for “the one”, I got the best customer service at URB bridal. I felt that Alysse and Rebecca truly listened to me as I tried on dresses, took direction and feedback when I explained what I liked or didn’t like about a particular gown, and they eventually brought me my dream wedding dress that was exactly what I was looking for and fit my venue perfectly. They had many different sized gowns in different styles. Being a plus size bride, I loved that I didn’t have to worry about whether they would have a dress that comfortable fit me and I was able to imagine what a dress would actually look like on my body when I tried it on. When they say they are a body positive and size inclusive bridal shop- they mean it. They also helped me choose a truly breathtaking veil that they were able to custom-make to compliment my dress. Many of our wedding guests commented that the veil and dress took their breath away. The alterations process also went very smoothly! This is for all you plus size brides like myself, who are looking for a good bridal shop that will have bigger size dresses to try on. They also have smaller sizes as well. They were friendly, and just welcoming! Alysse and Grace were awesome!! They are the two who helped me. The whole experience was amazing! They offer you champagne, pop, or water and they have chocolates! Book your appt there. Seriously go! You will not be disappointed.
