First of all, this review is not based on the class we took because that was absolutely AWESOME.
My review is solely based on the lack of helpfulness from the staff (including the owner) as well as the AWFUL booking system of Pure Barre as a whole.
As a newbie to Pure Barre, I wanted to go to my first class with a friend so I invited two girlfriends along for the ride. Our first experience with Pure Barre was already a weird one – two of us signed up and paid online for a package of $20 for the first class and second class for free, but never received a confirmation that our classes were booked and paid for. We thought it was strange, but weren’t sure since it was our first time at Pure Barre, so we proceeded to attend the class that we booked for Sunday at 11am.
Here is where our experience took a turn for the worst: we arrived to class five minutes early to find out that our names were NOT on the schedule or searchable in their system, which also meant that our payment was not recorded in their system either. The girl at the front desk played it off and let us know that their system had been acting up and let us know that we should be able to figure it out. It was a bit chaotic right before class, but the girl at the front didn’t want us to miss class, so she let us go back and said we could figure out the situation after. CLASS WAS AMAZING and I was looking forward to purchasing the Bride to Be package (unlimited classes for 3 mo. for $400). However, my mind swiftly changed.
The girl at the front desk was trying to be helpful, so she called the owner who said that the Pleasanton location doesn’t offer the deal we signed up for. Due to Pure Barre operating as a franchise and each studio being under different ownership, they were unable to apply the $20 we had already paid (for 2 classes) and we would have to pay the Pleasanton price of $24 for a single class. (What was strange is right before this was told to us, we were told that they should just be able to apply the $20 payment we had already made and just have us pay $4.)
We were told that we probably booked under a different location and that we would need to try to contact our bank to get the situation ironed out. WHAT?! I think it’s ridiculous that a franchise, who does not consistently offer the same promotions and pricing across all locations, has a booking system that is all interlinked. If each studio operates under different ownership and managment, but clients book online, I guarantee this isn’t the first time they’ve had this issue, yet they seemed so confused by our scenario.
Pure Barre Pleasanton, due to your lack of willingness to help not only one client, but THREE (since I brought two friends with me), none of us will return and we will definitely share our negative experience with our friends. I SO badly wanted to purchase the Bride to Be package to get in shape for my wedding, but that $400 will go to another, more accommodating boutique...
Read moreI bought a Groupon for Pure Barre Pleasanton (PBP) back in February for two weeks of unlimited classes. When I attended my first class, the "barrerista" provided a quick tour of the facility and demonstration of a "tuck" and "heavy tailbone." During class, the instructor welcomed and introduced me by name and ensured I did the movements correctly. That same day, one of the clients was completing her 100th class, and everyone was cheering her on. There was so much positive energy in the studio, I just had to come back for more. I've been taking classes at PBP for about 6 months now (I signed up for an annual membership) and celebrated my 100th class several weeks ago. The studio is clean and conveniently located within a mile from a freeway exit. The PB classes are low impact with isometric movements. Platform classes were recently added, which provide a much faster pace and get your heart pumping! Classes are offered 7 days a week and at various times throughout the day to accommodate different schedules/lifestyles. All of the staff members are friendly and committed to making each class a challenging but positive experience. I highly recommend PBP!!! ...
Read moreLove this studio! I recently just started getting active so I am definitely a beginner when it comes to fitness and physical activity. This studio is awesome because I never feel discouraged. I usually have to stop a few times during class to catch my breath as it is rigorous but I've always felt really positive, especially with Nicole and Millie's class. I've also taken the 6AM classes with Taylor as it works with my work schedule. The instructors make you want to come to class and give your most energy. Definitely feels like a community going to the classes and I feel like instructors give you personal attention, correcting your form and encouraging you to push harder. Definitely would suggest getting a membership if it works with your schedule! This is a fun but challenging workout!
UPDATE: I've been going to class 6 times a week now for almost 3 weeks and I already see a change in my body, especially my glutes. I thought my body may get used to the workout by now and it would be less effective, but the instructors find a way to switch up the routine and try new exercises. I feel challenged each time I...
