Highlands Scrub Natural Area — Attraction in Pompano Beach

Little walking loop with a great glimpse and information into what Florida scrub is. There will be plenty of lizards running around. I didn’t see any gopher tortoises, but they are part of the scrub ecosystem. Nice benches, two pavilions, trash cans, water fountain, and informational signs are through the park. It's a really nice preserve area called a scrub because of the ecology which is a desert like environment. There are quite a few scattered around south Florida. Not a bad Park. Sometimes I go here to clear my head because it's one of the most quiet and closest parks near me. This park has Cactus plants, Racer/Garden Snakes (harmless and afraid of humans, but come out in the summer to gather heat from concrete surfaces), Iguanas (you see them everywhere), Spiders, and Birds....
