Unacceptable treatment — felt unsafe and disrespected by aggressive security guard

What happened at Ideal Food Basket today was not just disappointing — it was disturbing. My sister, who relies on a legitimate service animal, was stopped at the entrance by the security guard. When she calmly explained and even offered to show documentation, he refused to listen. Instead, he repeatedly shouted, “No dogs allowed. No dogs whatsoever,” without acknowledging that service animals are legally protected He told me to look at the sign outside that no dogs are allowed nevertheless according to the sign on their own door service animals are permitted.

When I tried to step in and clarify that service animals are exempt from pet restrictions, he dismissed me too — raising his voice and doubling down on “no dogs allowed,” as if we were trying to sneak in a pet. There was no reasoning with him. He created a hostile and chaotic atmosphere for no reason.

His job is supposed to be ensuring safety and order, yet he was the one escalating the situation and making us feel unsafe.

This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable — discriminatory, ignorant, and aggressive. If Ideal values its customers and wants to be ADA-compliant, this individual needs to be retrained at minimum, or removed entirely. We left shaken and will not be returning.

Several months ago this store which I didn't know of its existence had a sale on eggplant, and I went there and bought enough to make 3 trays over the month. Not on sale because it was bad, because they were great! I started noticing more staple, special foods I loved in - produce, chicken, beef, seafood, etc at much better the price of anyone else locally, and equal if not better quality than anyone. Today I had a chance to compliment the store management, Michael. He was sweeping the floor of the store - the place is spotless, clean, healthy and the staff attitude is energetic and exemplary to customer service excellence. His and his Team's presentation is beautiful. It's a must shop for my family's household now. It's a chefs delight too. While the store caters, leans toward Latin and Caribbean, it's a great place to shop and learn more of the great culture of foods - and I have and will continue. The store is relatively clean and organized however I have shopped here on 3 separate occasions and items were not priced as advertised. Yesterday I picked up an item labled at $3.19, it rang up at $5.69 and I did not realize until after I paid. I went back to CS and the lady says she will refund me the difference but next time i have to pay higher amount. She only refunded me $2.10 which is still a little higher than labeled price. Last time this happened to me here it was fish at the meat counter with the wrong price listed and they didn't want to fix that either. The person who puts the price tags up are not doing their job properly. The prices are already high as is. One thing I will say is the prices for packaged meat seem to be decent. But overall even though this place is convenient and 2 minutes from my house I will continue to bypass and go elsewhere...
