Our guide book said this was one of the highlights of any visit to Ponce and that certainly was correct. The views were spectacular from the top of the cross with the Museo Castillo Serrales and Japanese Garden nearby and then the city of Ponce stretching out from the base of the hill the cross sits on all the way to the ocean. We lucked out and during our visit on a weekday there were just a few other tourists milling around and we had the interior of the cross all to ourselves. The visitor center at the base had a portion of the original wooden cross that stood at the site on display. Read moreWhen going up you may feel a slight dizziness, the elevator concentrates a lot of heat so you should be careful if you suffer from any heart condition. Being up the view is impressive, you will feel that the base of the Cruceta moves a little, but nothing to panic.
