If I could give 0 stars I would. my husband and I have lived in several different states and cities and have always been fond of the Y, because they have relative good prices and they are clean and functioning equipment.. However this isn't the case here.. the gym cost rises in price it seem like every month. the machines are held together with tape and some use Allen wrenches to select the weight ( if the machine even has one) other wise you are on the hunt to see what machine you can raid.
the cable machines are old, but that's not the problem when you sit to pull for a rep the resistance you get is not from weight it is from the old worn pully and rod system making your pull feel like it slips and skips with each pull.
the benches are old broken and some have no wheels which when you need to move it to a station it is difficult because these benches are heavy they are meant for you to lift weights so they need to be heavy for stability but when they have no wheels they are difficult to move on the rubber mats that protect the floor.
the pool is dirty and not taken care the other it was cloudy as if it needed to be maintained cleaned it was gross.
my question is why are the prices increasing but not one machine that I mentioned has been repaired or replaced to reflect the price hike this gym has had in just a few month it is obvious the money isn't being utilized to keep the equipment in good working order I understand the economy isn't great but when you pay for something and when you keep getting price increases one would expect the state of this gym which looks run down and like no one cares for the equipment and the gym goers would some what improve perhaps one machine every 6month or year would make me and I'm sure many other feel like their cash is being used for what you are being charged for.
oh and lets add insult to injury the hours suck they close early on the weekend and 9pm during the week so you basically pay for a part time gym. and watch out for a storm if a storm comes the facilities closes which makes sense but if they close for a month or longer you loose your money because they do not freeze the membership.
if you don't believe me...
Read moreSummer camp customer service is absolutly awful. I have written two reviews ever cause im usually pretty understanding and very laid back but... I had signed my daughter up for summer camp. Couple weeks before camp started we canceled due to making other arrangments and not only that but one of those camps was canceled by the ymca due to not having a teacher. I went in and filled out the paperwork to cancel. I cancelled just within the 2 week timeframe to get a full refund on one of the weeks so i would be responsible for 80% and i was fine with that. After cancelling They still charged my card for each week that i had canceled. Right away I called, texted, emailed, called some more, physically went into the office and left several messages simply asking for a call back to make sure the cancellation had been properly processed and a refund would be issued. Here we are almost 6 weeks later and just yesterday did i finally get a call back (after going into the office and complaining) . I still haven't been refunded (but have been told that it is in the works) and now that could take several more weeks. When i mentioned to the camp director that i was being charged interest on all of this while they take weeks - months to process the refund her answer was "thats just how it is" I am normally super patient but this is not ok,. If your going to take 4-8 weeks to get back to someone and start to process a refund then they could at least give them their full refund to cover the interest that their credit card company is charging them. If she had not ignored me from the start and actually started processing the refund sooner then later then I would not be upset. I realize life is busy but to totally ignore someone for a month is a bit ridiculous. they could have simpy said "we will get back to you" or made some sort of...
Read moreVery disgusted at this point and there's nothing that would ever make me believe that this organization is for non-profit. I was charged the week of a NATURAL DISASTER, "HURRICANE IAN"!!!!!!! My 3 children attended their program 1 day which was Monday September 26th. Later that day, parents were all notified that all schools in Sarasota county will be CLOSED from September 27th to September 29th (Hurricane Ian arrived Wednesday, September 28th) When questioned as to why I am being charged for unused services caused by a Natural Disaster, Lisa that overlooks the aftercare program in which my children attends, proceeds to say because of the Monday that they were open they have to charge for the week. It's sickening to believe that they are "non-profit" when many many families were displaced from their homes, reduction or loss of pay, loss of food for days without electricity for days, for her response to only be "We were open on Monday that they attended". I have no words to describe how shallow of a self centered response it was and I'm livid!!!! Emails were sent out to the SWFL executive team as well as the President and CEO, Gene Jones. I'm sure someone will...
